Well, not a jet plane. But leaving in a Smart Car. I am going out today. I've reached my stay at home limit. It's been nearly two weeks since I took the car anywhere. At a minimum it's time to take it out for a spin. The COVID case numbers were down again yesterday. Hospitalizations and deaths were still up but the number of new cases was substantially down.

Of course, this could mean that more people are relying on at home tests and are just not reporting positives. But, I don't care. I'm going out today.

But I just saw this on Twitter, from a respected/trusted source: "Reminder: if your region hit Peak Omicron 3d ago, your risk of catching it today is about the same as it was last wk (unless you had Omi or got vaxd 1-2 wks ago). No reason to be let down guard – in fact, you're 6d closer to a time (~3 wks) when you can safely be less cautious!"

Fuck. Ok. But I'm still going out. I just won't go shopping. I might go pick up something for lunch. I can order ahead so it's just pop in and pop out. And maybe I'll park far away and get some steps in. And the car battery reved.

And then back home to wait... 6 days?? But, I've been careful/lucky so far, I guess 6 more days won't kill me.

I like the little Smart cars but, they'd never work here. The under carriage would get hung up on the snow.
