I'm going to double mask up and go to the Goodwill Store this morning. I have things on my list to look for and I need the steps. I might even go to a grocery store later in the week. There have been no covid numbers posted since last week but I don't care. I'm going anyway.

I've done a very excellent job of eating out my freezer and pantry. We're getting down to some bare bones. It's luxurious to see room on those shelves. But a grocery run looms.

I see that some of my LJ friends are scampering away. I'm sorry. I get it, but I'm sorry. I will miss them as I miss the others who left years ago. In a few weeks I will have accumulated 20 years of journal entries here. While it would be an entirely different experience, I'd likely keep it up even if it was just me. I would not like it as much but I'd still be here.

I've been on a pairing down project. Not so much culling out but more minimalizing. It started with my clothes. This winter, I've not worn more than half my winter clothes. They need to go. I've moved the bunch to another closet. If I don't touch them by June, out they go.

Flatware. I had a drawer full of knives and forks and spoons. If I used my dishwasher, I could see the value of so many. But, I am one person and I wash my dishes by hand after every meal. So I took them all out of the drawer. I put back 4 forks, 4 knives, 4 spoons and 4 odds (1 long teaspoon, 1 large fork, 2 large spoons). I did this about two weeks ago and it's been fine. I love opening that drawer. It's so nice and orderly now.

I need to do more of this. My pots and pans are the next hit, I think. I don't need the entire whackadoodle collection. I don't even like most of them.

Property Taxes will be billed out in 2 weeks. Every time I get my savings account all nice and padded something comes along to let the air out. Last year they were $5,228.52. I suspect this year they will be close to that. Ugh.

I read more of Stuart MacBride's Dark So Deadly. It's a 20 hour books so a slow build. I can't tell yet whether I'll stick around for the whole thing.

I watched CBS Sunday Morning, The Fall, 2 episodes of B Positive, This Old House and Ask This Old House

Do people say why they are leaving LJ, or have you just noticed them fading out?

I'm with you — I prefer LJ to DW. I will say, however, you can import your LJ to DW if you choose. At least, you used to be able to.

Ok, yes, that makes sense. I've seen/heard noise about that over the past several years here on LJ as well. I also decided to stay around here. I have not tried Dream Width...I was here first after finally finding LJ when my other journaling site went down the tubes. As ridiculous as it sounds, the name Dream Width annoys me. hahahahahah

If I hadn't just paid for another year, I'd have to think about leaving. I originally opened a DW account because a few of my gay and LGBTQ friends had been treated badly here at ElJay. I dunno, I'm not so political but that bothered me a lot. So for now, I'm hand cross posting.

I have a Dreamwidth account, but I'm basically using it as a backup account. I'd miss the people over at LJ if I used it only.

For now I am manually cross posting from Dreamwidth. I do read some people there who aren't here, which was why I originally created the account there. You can actually import your entire journal to there, too.

Re: flatware, I entertain rarely nowadays. But, when I do, it involves salad forks and soup spoons, as well as the standard knife, fork, and teaspoon. I might have to wash the salad forks to use for dessert forks, depending on what I am serving.

I have no intention of leaving LJ, but I admit, I have a foot in both "doors" of LJ and DW. In 2012, I exported all my LJ entries to DW, then began to cross-post via Semagic (Remember that client? I think I'm the only one who still uses it!). Thanks to LJ's blocking maneuver, DW's cross-posting feature is unstable, which is why I don't use it.

I'm not l leaving LJ, although I admit I'm not thrilled with Russian management. Yet, because so many friends remain here, I stay. But, I now have a few friends exclusive to DW. So, in essence, I have the same journal in two places but two separate groups of readers. I'm fine with it.

I also have just over 20 years of journal entries. I enjoy sharing my posts, but ultimately I post for me. I would keep posting even if there were no readers.

Ha I still use Semagic! I would be so sad to have to post through the website.

There are a few of us left! LOL I don't want to post through the website, either. I worry about the cross-posting feature not working there, or not working with Windows 11 (I haven't upgraded to that yet!). Or, (worst case scenario) should LJ tank, the program won't work on DW.

I made a dreamwidth account when the site first started, intending it to be a backup, but I've never backed up and haven't even been over there in years. I have no plans on leaving LJ, but may start to cross post if a lot of my flist goes exclusively to dream width.

YAY for going through things and getting stuff simplified. I've been working on that, too.

I've discovered that one of the benefits of having an attic is that I can put boxes of stuff up there to see if I miss them. If I haven't touched them in a year, out they go. It makes the separation process a lot easier as I'm no longer attached to whatever it is by then.

Oh I am not leaving as in, not reading those who are not on DW. I just will not pay for my account here any more.
