The vet and the internets and everyone else says that wet food is better for cats. Biggie always hated wet food until he screwed up his jaw in the dive off the terrace. I tried before then but had little success. Then, when he couldn't chew hard stuff, I dived in. He's been on nothing but wet food since. And it's been pretty much a disaster.

He really only likes two kinds. And I've tried a biscillion. The kind he loves best comes in small servings in little plastic bins that are a bitch to open and cause a mountain of smelly trash. The other kind has massive supply chain issues. Both are messy.

I decided that this morning, I was going to go to the pet food store and see if I could find some freeze dried stuff. I had not tried that yet. But, then I thought, why? Why am I torturing us? I had a small bag of dried food that I'd gotten as a sample and I put that in a bowl and he nearly ate all of it after he'd finished his breakfast.

Fine. If he wants the hard stuff, I'll get him the hard stuff. I'll even get his food puzzle tree out of the closet. It will sure be easier and cheaper!

So this morning it's off to the pet food store for kibble. And maybe a pop into Whole Foods to see if they have the good orange juice.

So. I have the weirdest bone to pick with the Reacher series. (Which, by the way, it was announced yesterday, is going for another season. so yeah) There's a black barber who is a knowsall good guy and serves the character tomato sandwiches. White bread, mayo, tomato. You know, the proper kind of tomato sandwich. Only he uses roma tomatoes. ??? Roma? Those hard little nuggets in sandwiches? They don't even taste very tomato-y Does he slice them longways? I'm just so confused by this.

Otherwise, the series is nice good junk food TV. I have 3 more eps to go.

I got up way too early this morning. I was just done sleeping. My Fitbit agrees. I got the same score (87) as I did two nights ago when I slept two hours longer. The problem is that I'm ready to get dressed and hit the road and it's still 2 hours before the pet food store even opens.

Only one of my neighbors in the apartment building across the street still has their Christmas tree up. Is it tenacity or procrastination? I don't know but I do appreciate the view.

I'm still enjoying reading The Snow Killer by Ross Greenwood. I looked him up and followed him on Instagram and he followed me back! So we'll be tight buds, pretty soon, I'm guessing.

In addition to Reacher, I also watched 911 Lonestar and a fascinating piece on American Experience (PBS) about blue jeans.

My cats get both wet and dry! They prefer to sample each. Cats are so annoying about food tbh.

my cat gets both, as well. Vet told me if I wanted I could give her all wet food. She's not a drinker, not at all, so I add water to the dry food (just a little) now that I look at that I realize how silly it is.

We tried adding water to dry food too and our cats HATED it 😅😅 we add a touch of water to their wet food and mash it into a soup. So spoiled lol!

They are NO GOOD if they aren't spoiled. I do that with her wet food, plus add a few drops of a solution to keep her from getting cystitis. She, in turn, lays down beside me when I'm doing my hip therapy exercises.

I agree about the roma. Bullshit. No southern man who knows about mayo and white bread would let a roma in his shop. His character was a little wasted anyway. They were looking for some kind of snarky comment and thought no one would notice roma. Hah.

My nit to pick is that Reacher is freakin' huge. He can take off a beer cap with his bicep but continuously nearly gets his ass kicked by guys that are easily a hundred pounds lighter than him. I understand the necessity of drama but really, he would just catch the fist and squeeze.

But the series is excellent and truer to the book than pretty much any I've ever seen.

Reacher is Nobel prize material next to 911 Lonestar.

Yeah, I'm one of those people with a Christmas tree still up. It's the result of too much work to do, the ice storm, and the water explosion in my living room. Too much chaos.

I agree; Roma tomatoes have no place in a tomato sandwich.

I always liked heirloom tomatoes in sandwiches but we probably have very different taste because you like mayo and I can't stand it. shrug

Good call on the cat food decision. When my dog was getting very old, the vet sold me some million dollar cans of crap for her and she just looked at me so sadly.....I gave in right away. If she wanted to eat her hard crunchy, cheap dog food, then that is what she got to have. I never regretted it. I know it's not the exact same thing, but I am in full support, regardless.

That is wild about wet being better than dry food. For dogs they say the opposite.

Never heard the wet was better angle on cat food. These two (and my last few) have had nothing but dry kibble, with an occasional treat of tuna water (the water that comes out of water-packed canned tuna; rather than discard it, they each get a small bowl of it) on the rare occasion I have tuna.

Still have their Christmas tree up in February? That’s kind of impressive, actually.

Zen's cat was spoiled rotten and got two cans of wet food a day. It always totally grossed me out when I fed him. I hated the smell, I hated trying to clean the can out to put in the recycling bin, I hated how the recycling bin smelled even though I had tried to clean it out, etc. I do not miss that at all.

That blue jeans program was full of fascinating stuff (even if it was, um, padded a bit). I don't think I knew before watching it that "denim" was derived from "de Nîmes", among other more consequential matters.

Kibble should be perfectly fine unless he has an issue with drinking enough water. I presume he has a nice fountain or endless supply of fresh, because he has everything else a discerning cat could dream of.

I sometimes use romas in sandwiches. They often have more flavour than any other tomato available here.

Those hard little nuggets, sliced thin, can work on a sandwich. I know this because they are the cheapest tomato in Aldi so I make do with them.

Yes, across, not lengthwise.
