Today's the day they release the real estate tax numbers and I won! I figured it would be a little lower than recently because the assessment was a little lower than recently. BUT turns out, the amount is smaller than the previous four years! Woot.

It was a very pleasant surprise. This is my last gynormous bill until next December's HOA bill. Unless something happens. My savings/rainy day/emergency fund account is not looking so robust. It needs the next months to recover.

I also discovered that Humana has doubled the exercise bonus. I get $5 a month in gift card money for doing 600 steps a day or going to the gym. I hooked up my Fitbit so it all gets recorded automatically. Then a couple of times a year, I go to the site and cash in. Trade the amount for a gift card of my choice. I just checked in this morning and discovered that this year, it's $10 a month. Now we're talking!

Biggie slept with me all night last night and this morning, he even crawled into my lap for a little bit. The personality du jour. He's still eating mostly wet food and kind of ignoring the kibble.

I have no big plans today. Tomorrow is my optometrist appointment. It's not far from here but I'm not sure of the exact location or the parking. And I want to check the new bluetooth transmitter and make sure it 'wakes' up when the car turns on even if it's been a while, so I might just run the new patient forms by their office today. Give 'em time to get ready for me.

Yesterday I finished watching The Fall. Wow. What an amazing and interesting and thoroughly satisfying show. 3 seasons and just so well done. Last night, I found a new, interesting series on Netflix. Inventing Anna. I'm not entirely hooked but still going. It could still lose me but not yet.

Ours went up a bit but nothing significant, within the amount escrow had collected. And our HOA is $52/month which is really a value considering how nice the development is kept.

I wanted to tell you at the beginning to hang in there with 'The Fall' — It's one of my favorite shows. There were quite a few of those noirish shows out at the time and they were fantastic. If you haven't seen Les Revenants (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Returned_(French_TV_series)), check it out. You will probably like it. Don't bother with the American show. It sucked horribly. Top of the Lake (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_of_the_Lake) was also stellar.

I wish my insurance company did that! :)

Maybe your savings on taxes can fund your tangerines . . . ;)

Nice! Don't spend all that spare money on tangerines.
