When I was really little, my Dad explained to me one day about what success is, how to spot it and why it is different for everyone. I was really too young to understand but I still had the words when I got old enough.

This morning I heard him at the grocery store. But switched success for inflation. I get what inflation is now, how to spot it and why it is different for everyone. The cost of gas is not on my radar, I don't drive enough. I don't ever turn the heater on in my home. I don't pay rent and I don't have a mortgage.

But... my favorite tangerines are now FIVE FUCKING DOLLARS each!!!! And they aren't even fabulous.

I only got 3 and I got a $10 poke bowl. The guy at the register told me my total was $25.29. I was glad I had not taken a sip of a drink. I looked t the receipt when I got to the car and sure enough. They are $7.99 per pound. Had I paid attention in produce and seen that, I would have assumed it was a typo.

Holy fuck.

I did find the optometrist's off and I'm glad I made the little trip. It's hard to spot and the parking is impossible to find. I'd have been a wreck at 8 tomorrow morning. Now I know right where to go and how to get there.

And my bluetooth transmitter kind of worked like I want. I think. More testing is required.

I feel like I should save these tangerine sections and only eat one a day. Geesh.

Five dollars for a tangerine?! Ouch. That sounds like our prices up here, I hate to think what one would cost in my local grocery store right now. I'll have to check next time I'm there.

I can appreciate the produce price sticker shock!
A few years ago, I picked up a dinky-looking little head of radicchio (a red and white variety) and discovered it weighed just under half a pound. Good thing, too, as the price was something like $6.99/pound, and that was however many years ago.

This past summer-autumn, I looked at some white-stem bok choy, selected the best-looking, sturdiest, fullest head, thinking, "Good deal! $3.99 apiece!" Only, it wasn't. It was supposed to be $3.99 per pound, only the bin wasn't labeled as such, and when I got to the check-out and saw a charge close to $12.00 for bok choy, I thought I'd faint---and I can't recall ever fainting.
Spoke with the store manager---very civilly, both of us---and although he offered me the head of bok choy I'd selected at the price marked ($3.99 for the head), after considering for about three seconds, I declined but did thank him for his offer.
Holy -----! I can purchase a packet of several hundred seeds for that vegetable for the supermarket's price per pound, and have it fresher and without it having been handled by Joe Shmoe and his extended family, you know?

Yikes!!! I've noticed the price of food has gone up, but I haven't seen anything that extreme.

Glad you found the office. I always scope out my route in advance, too, if I'm going somewhere new. Even with GPS, it's so good to find where to park and have a plan.

Yeah, by the time he got to me he was tired of explaining I guess. I got a paperweight saying "If you're not the lead dog, the scenery never changes" with no explanation.

Wow, that's high. Sumos are our favorite orange type citrus and I thought they were bad at 4.99 a pound.

Better eat those $7.99-a-pound tangerine sections up quickly, before they spoil 🍊

I picked up a small number of things last night after the gym, was expecting it to be around the £10 mark and it was almost £18
