Are you enjoying your retirement? My favorite uncle said that every day in retirement was a jewel, but I don't find it so. What's your secret? Keeping busy?

You know, I am. The first couple of years were rough. But now, I love it. And no, it's not keeping busy. I am, in no way, busy. I think my secret is Embracing The Lazy. I do not know where the time goes but it does go. For sure!

"Embracing The Lazy..."! I can totally do that. I'm embracing daily naps, and those a jewels.

1) How did you learn to adapt to retirement? I'd think that it would be a shock.

2) Where have you traveled to and do you miss any of those places?

Such good questions. Thank you. I think I'm going make an entry out of 1 as a couple of people recently have asked me much the same thing.

Travel. Interesting. I was so very lucky to have a job for a long time that included lots of fun travel. I worked for IBM back in its heyday and part of my job involved scoping out, setting up and helping run product announcements in different cities around the country. I'd have to go there multiple times, and got to spend free time there as well. It was also first class everything. I was Luxury Lucy. AND... most importantly... it was before 9/11. So getting there was truly half the fun. I loved every single minute of it all.

I went to Europe with my family for a summer in my teens. I went to various island on the Caribbean with a friend twice a year for several years. And I went to New Zealand - twice. I'd seriously consider going back there IF they would move it closer.

And, nope, I do not miss any of it. The last few times I went anywhere, I did not enjoy it. I'm not a fan of car trips. And flying is just a major PIA now - less than zero fun.

I love my house. I love being home with my things and my routines. I have no desire to go anywhere. None.

If you had a choice to live between two different states, Washington or Oregon, which would you choose and why - if you know.

Oh that's a weird one. I have not spent a lot of time in Oregon and my feelings about it are based on totally unsubstantial information. I'm an urban dweller so it would really come down to Portland or Seattle and Seattle wins hands down. I feel like Oregon has far more skin heads and right wingers than I'm comfortable with. And if you lived in Portland, you'd spend so much time explaining that no, not the one in Maine.

Ahh Seattle over Portland, interesting. I kind of want to move to WA and G. wants to move to Oregon.

I would not want to live too close to Portland, all the issues in that city.
