Baseball!!
Mar. 10th, 2022 06:09 pmFinally. And they've fixed some things. No pitchers will hit. No 7 inning double headers. No ghost runner on 2nd base in extra innings. I'm perfectly fine. And because they fucked up the schedule, my first ticket of the season falls on the first home game of the season! That doesn't suck. They haven't released the spring training game schedule so I haven't pulled the trigger on upgrading my cable TV package.
I'm not a movie person but this afternoon I watched Kimi on HBO - it was filmed in Seattle, a fair amount in my neighborhood. It was an ok movie. The Seattle scenes were very fun. And like the rest of the Seattle viewers, I looked for the Seattle fun. Sure enough, the lead character gets on the train at the station here in my neighborhood and gets off by the grain silos on north of town... where there is no train or station. On the impressive side, there was no thunder/lightening which is usually required for Seattle filming - this movie didn't even have rain!!
I have had a sore throat for about three days now. It's the weirdest thing. Usually a sore throat to me is really sore inside. So eating food hurts all the way going down and soup feels good. But this is different. It's like my swallow muscles are sore. It might be lymph nodes but I don't think so. My theory is that it's part of the allergy thing. I did take one of my COVID tests yesterday. I have 8 from the feds and 4 from the state. So I burned one. Negative.
Biggie has been on his best behavior today. His birthday present to me.
I'm so glad to hear so many LJ import success stories. My poor brother keeps getting fails. He says he feels like Charlie Brown trying to kick the ball. Maybe soon...

Date: 2022-03-11 11:45 am (UTC)I know very little about baseball (roughly, what I've picked up from Charlie Brown...) but the whole "designated hitter" thing has always mildly interested me. That's because I have been a big cricket fan for many years, and in cricket everyone bats. What interests me is that in baseball, the prevailing opinion seems to be, "Nobody wants to see no-hopers bat" whereas in cricket seeing the no-hopers bat is very popular.
Okay, there are practicalities as well (in cricket, it's not uncommon for six out of the 11 on a team to bowl in a game) but some kind of DH rule would probably be workable with a little thought in cricket -- yet nobody has ever seriously suggested it. Not in any way a value judgement here! They're two different sports. Just, as I say, something I noticed. :)

Date: 2022-03-11 02:18 pm (UTC)I didn't even try to import my stuff to LJ, but I've heard lots of success stories. I hope that if he keeps trying, your brother will also get it to work. I guess others are just making a large file, not online, to save for themselves.

They're not because it's no longer possible.
They're happening because so many users want to import their LJ journals.

My hypothesis is I was fighting off COVID and won.
I feel much better now.
