Cheers, Mate
Apr. 3rd, 2022 07:05 amI bought this nearly $600 chromebook in January. I've been gradually falling out of love and this morning I think I have pretty much decided to return it. Happily I bought it from Costco so not only very returnable but easy to do. The first problem is that it is very loud. It has a fan, which is fine, but when the fan kicks on, it's just egregiously and annoyingly loud. But, even worse is the wifi radio. I've had wifi issues for a while. We swapped out routers two weeks ago and I have monitor software running so I know there has been no wifi failure. And, yet, this sucker keeps losing the signal. Plus when it does, it's set to just use my phone automagically. Which it does not. This morning I had to reboot to get any wifi at all. this is a fucking chromebook. No internet is kind of a problem.
I'm reading The Survivors by Jane Harper set in Tasmania and ready by a very Australian narrator. I hear him in my head all day even though I only listen at night before I got to bed.
Yesterday I started watching The Tourist (HBO). It's an intense thriller set in the outback of Australia. I watched 3 episodes back to back. If you do that, make sure you have some water to drink nearby. It's dry.
I've never been to Australia. (New Zealand, twice, but that's as close as I've gotten.) But now I'm feeling very Cheers, Mate.
I have old lady skin that is parched every day by pool chemicals and watching all that outback scenery in Australia made my skin just crack like the ground. I finally got out the heavy duty Cerave, stripped down and lathered myself all over. My skin drank up that stuff like nobody's business. I'll bet I used a good half cup of the stuff.
Today, after my swim and shower, before I got dressed, I lathered again. I use a spatchula to get the stuff on my back and this always amuses anyone in the locker room at the time. But, damn, it does the job. I feel like I will not only live, but will now be able to watch the rst of The Tourist!
Oh and I ran into a very old swim buddy this morning. She's probably only a little younger than I am but I haven't seen since well before the pandemic started. "OH! Hi!! I haven't seen you in forever!!" It was a fun greeting to get. We had a nice catch up. It's really nice to have so many nice swim friends.
Today there will be cookie making. Ginger cookies.
And I'm going to get out my old chromebook and charge it up and put it back into service to help me decide the fate of this loud pos.
Now I'm going to go hang up my swimsuit.
I leave you with some great real estate porn - this house is Seattle in so many wonderful ways. Also me. Check out that game room ceiling and the kitchen floor.
