This time it's my microwave which is actually a fancy/dancy Adventium oven (it slices and dices and whatever). Apparently the death occurred sometime between my breakfast burrito and lunch. RIP.

It was time. It was old. And fancy. I looked up replacements and mostly they fall in the $2,500 range if you include installation and removal. (It's over the stove.) Sigh.

So I called my appliance place and got a new (to me) guy with a delightful aussie accent who needed to look up pricing and availability and call me back. His bad because while I waited, I reconsidered. My Ninja oven is also fancy and does all kinds of tricks that kind of overlap with the Adventium. So do I really need the Adventium??? What if I got just a regular microwave? So I looked at his website and found just the one.

When he called back, I broke the bad news. His sale had been slashed. He recovered nicely and efficiently. $400 oven, removal, install - be here Thursday. Whew.

Then I noticed a streak in sliding glass door that I just cleaned last week. Fuck. A leak. Yep. Right there in the door frame. And also in the frame of the transom window. Crap.

Both are slow and don't appear to have caused any damage. It's from the terrace above me. It's an ongoing issue so the building manger company is all set up to fix. I sent the manager pix and he thinks things will be dry enough for a seal on Friday so he'll have his guys come do it then. I'll keep an eye on it but I think that will be fine.

And he was very responsive.

I'd very much appreciate if broken things don't come in threes this time.

A few minutes ago, Biggie was not in sight and I heard what sounded like maybe glass breaking...

And then I realized it was the windchimes that [personal profile] bill_schubert installed when he was here. Now that's some breakage I could listen to all day long!

I'd have been more respectful had I known that the microwave reheating my coffee was so impressive.

Does the one you ordered have the same size glass turntable as the spare you have stashed away on the porch? Great minds wonder.

We have something similar in the new place, and I hate, hate, hate the knob on it. I just want a keypad for numbers, and not to have to turn the freakin' knob (which doesn't let you zap for less than 10 seconds anyway, on our model). I end up just using whatever the button is that just adds 30 seconds and stopping it when it's done if I'm zapping something for less than that. Definitely not getting replaced with a similar model when this one dies.

I'm sorry about your microwave. I think mine cost under sixty dollars. It also has dials on it, instead of a touchscreen, which I love. That said, the FlavorWave and NewWaveare quite interesting. Mom has both, but she hasn't used them. Still, they, too, have dials and are supposed to cook foods quickly and efficiently. I am the type who loves to follow recipes exactly, though, so I'm not sure how I would feel about them changing my time. I'm glad the manager was so quick and responsive to your needs. I love wind chimes of all kinds!
