The Mariner game last night was just fun. First of all my scooter was back to its ohso zippy self thanks to the new batteries. Whew!

The park wasn't packed but it was full and the crowd was good. And our section is getting chummy. As the regulars come in now, they say "hi neighbors!". I learned that the woman to my right is named Shay and the guy she comes with is her Dad. And they drive all the way here and back for every game from Yakima! 2 hours from here when they are lucky. "It took us 3 to get here tonight because of traffic." I cannot imagine. I've never even been to Yakima because it's too far away :)

The couple on my left were a one off which is always fun. There's a huge menu of items you can order from your seat. All included in the ticket price. Towards the end of the evening, they ordered six giant cookies and six brownies. It got a big laugh from all around but then it was clear they hadn't thought it through. No bag or anyway to even hold them all, much less carry them home. I had a plastic bag in my bag which I gave them. Then Shay spilled red wine on her jacket when she was passing a cup of it down the row to someone else. I had a large napkin in the bag which saved her.

When I told them both "never underestimate the value of an old woman with a large bag" the whole section laughed heartily.

Our next game is Mother's Day.

Last week, was the morning I woke up with a broken hip. Well, not broken, but it hurt like hell. I thought it was from the game but this morning, no hip issue at all so whew.

Today is a lazy day (compared to all my other days when I run marathons and stuff). I never did do laundry yesterday. Probably today. A dumpster run is in the cards. But, probably that's it.

Great that the baseball neighbours are nice! It would be horrible being stuck for an entire season with annoying people, especially given the price you're paying for the experience.

Distances are so funny. When I was younger, I always thought that Yakima was so far away from Seattle. And the few times I drove that way seemed like forever. lol

The local media is making a lot of hay out of the fact that our A's farm team, The Aviators, has seen double the number of butts in seats all week compared to the A's.

The Coliseum is not the worst ballpark in the majors (that's probably the circus tent the Rays play in), but it's far fro the best.

I assume that you also watched the game itself, but apparently that's not worth mentioning. :-)

I see that the Mariners are actually in first place in the AL West. Which is not a predictor of anything in particular, of course.

(Hard to say the same about the 2-13 Cincinnati Reds.)

It sounds like you had a wonderful time! I love laughter with friends. And yes, it definitely helps to have someone with a bag full of things around when disaster strikes. I'm not that type, so I hope I find someone like you when I get myself into trouble. haha
