First off, the Mariners. In last night's game, they were brilliant and then they sucked and then they were beyond brilliant. All in 9 innings. Whew. As they do every year, they have started off this year with the same hopes "This is a great team. This is a team that will make it to the playoffs. This particular team is special." Every year they say that. But this year, they might be right.

The Mariners have been to the playoffs less than a handful of times and never made it past the first round. They are the only team in the major leagues that has never once played in the World Series.

BUT there is a lot of season yet to play. So far, however, they are, indeed, promising. Even with one of their best players, two pitchers, the manager and vice-manager all missing having tested positive for COVID.

Today's game is at 1.

Before that, I have a date with Amazon. Since they started carrying my preferred Diet Dr. Pepper vessels (16 oz bottles), I've grown fond of having them deliver them to my door as opposed to my schlepping them up steps and elevator from the car. So I'm laying in a supply this morning - 10-noon delivery. They leave the stuff just outside my door. So handy. Plus now Amazon Fresh carries frozen breaded okra and zucchini fries which no one else here does. So score!

Otherwise just a regular day. I have two Jeopardy episodes recorded and not watched so there a chance, slim because I hate it so but still a chance, that I'll get on the treadmill and watch one of them. Maybe.

"Look at the camera" is ignored when there are birds to watch.

I have a friend who is an ardent Royals fan and she posted a rant about the stupid move the Royals made in the 8th inning that let the game get away from them. She's probably still steaming about it today.

My Rays won yesterday against the Red Sox. I'm sincerely hoping the trend continues today.

They are the only team in the major leagues that has never once played in the World Series.

I may not be a baseball person, but that piece of info combined with the British love of a sporting underdog has now made me hope the Mariners will break that duck this year. :)

Heh, thanks. I can't claim I'll be evermore loyal -- the small part of me that took notice of baseball used to take an interest in the Chicago Cubs, but then they inconveniently won the World Series after 800,000 years or whatever it was. So if the Mariners ever do become that successful, that could be a problem. ;)
