I love steak. And french fries. So Steak Frites is one of my favorite meals ever.

But I have no outside grill and don't want one. Cooking it in the oven is messy and my oven is used for storage anyway. I could use my toaster oven but messy. I did use the old fancy Adventium that recently went to its grave. I needed a new way. I googled the shit out of the issue.

The frites are easy. Frozen OreIda extra crispy - air fried for 15 mins at 400 degrees.

But now I have the steak part nailed as well. I forget the cut but I get 1" thick meat at Costco - $9.99 a pound. They package four steaks together. I cut each one in half.

With a paper towel, I make sure the half steak is patted dry on both sides. Then I season it with Morton Nature's Seasons Seasoning Blend (my goto for meat seasoning). I put two tablespoons of olive oil in my frying pan and turn the heat to high until it shimmers.

I put the steak in the pan and cover the pan with a lid that is way too big (this is mainly for splatter control). I leave it alone for 2 mins. Then I turn it over and turn the heat down to 5 and go for another 2 mins - maybe 3. I like my steak rare.

(I have added butter and garlic to the pan when I do the turning and that works out really nicely too.)

Then I pull it from the pan to the plate and tent it with foil for 5-10 minutes. Then remove the tent, introduce the frites and eat.

I have shit ventilation but as long as I leave the lid on the pan - even the too big lid - until it's cool, I don't get stinky house.

I do get one heck of a delicious meal. Sometimes I add salad. Mostly I do not.

I paid $33 for four steaks or 8 halves yesterday. The fries are about $1 a meal. So for about $6 in 15 mins, I have a delicious meal.

I just had this for lunch and realize now I should have photographed it. Oh well. trust me, it was pretty.

Oooommm noooommm!
I have two electric plates outside the door for these things, because my kitchen has NO ventilation at all. I only cook water in there!

I went to Morton's website and they don't say all the specific spices in Nature's Seasons, which I find kind of frustrating.

yeah, "spices". That bugs me because I can't duplicate it myself.

That sounds delicious, though I would have fried the French fries as well. I love porterhouse or fillet mignon. But the first is a combination of the second and teabone, so it's the best of both worlds. there is also a cut, called cowboy, which is huge and delicious.
