OMG all that worry for nothing
May. 16th, 2022 11:25 amLast Summer, I had a cat door. That was back when Biggie had balcony privileges. One sliding glass door that met up with the cat door.
Then, when it came time to install the air conditioner, I just cut a hole just above the cat door part and stuck the pipe in. This was what it looked like.

Then my brother figured out I could move the unit closer and eliminate the hose holder thing so that helped. But it was a pretty easy setup. Velcro held the cat door in place.
But, then last fall Biggie flew off the balcony and the cat door got eliminated. I put in a screen door so I could get fresh air and he could not get out.
And I worried all winter about how I was going to set up the air conditioner this summer.
When my brother was here, I dragged him into the worry. He came up with the idea of removing the flap and flipping the whole thing upside down so the hose went out at the very bottom and then adding a piece at the top. Good plan.
I was sitting her this morning in my short sleeved shirt reading about all my DW friends setting up their air conditioners and I thought. Hmmm why not just see how it goes and if I need more bits or something to make it work.
I got out the extra piece I bought and cut it to size and the extra velcro and then put the door in to see what else it needed.
Turns out, in order to be able to use the screen door, I had to use the screen door track to set it in. Which... works out PERFECTLY!!! No velcro even needed! It just sits right in there.
I won't be able to close the door all they way because the hose is there but I won't need to.

Biggie investigated and he's fine with it.

Way back when I first got a portable air conditioner, setting it up was a major PIA. Now, it's a two minute operation. I could easily move it back into storage and pull it out in a couple of weeks and I might.
Then I fired up the phone app and hit "on" and got cool air immediately.
Wow. Yeah!!!
And, in other great news, I pulled out my box o' swim stuff and found four perfectly fine swim suits I had made (that aren't lined) so I'm set for a while there, too.
Some days ya just get lucky.
