Ouch!

I deeply appreciate the mental aspects of aging. I no longer give a flying fuck about so much that used to occupy my every worrying moment. I've learned that it just really doesn't matter. And, if it does, I know, from experience, this too, will pass and so what if my neighbors see me in my robe as I pop down to get something out of the car or the mailbox.

But one of the aspects of old age which is truly mysterious and annoying is going to sleep with working body parts and waking up with broken bits. This morning it was my achillies tendon and my hip. I hobbled to the bus stop. I have several days of missed swimming in the next couple of weeks so I didn't want to sacrifice this one. But, how do you know when using it will help or aggravate? Today's owies turned out ot be the use it to fix variety. Both are better now but Ouch!

I'm thinking I might take them for a stroll through Goodwill just to make sure they are both fine.

No other news to impart here. Just a lovely Friday - cool and cloudy so far. Baseball tonight. Plenty to entertain.

once upon a time when I was younger, I thought I might me interested in gymnastics. After two days of hell, the trainer told me to take a swim, it would help. And it did.

I can’t wait to give less fucks! I definitely give a lot less than I did in my younger years, but I definitely still hold on to too many!

I find that I still give too many, or at least some that I shouldn't. And I'm older than you, so I need to figure out how to fix that.

Baseball tonight for me as well! YAY!

It is annoying the way things will decide to hurt. Today it was my good knee. WTF? I was not happy, but it seems much better tonight.

I think that when we get old the tooth fairy comes back and injures us in our sleep to extract payment for all the money we got as kids for our worthless baby teeth.

And who knows, maybe Santa and the Easter Bunny join in.

I hear you on both counts of aging. I know I'm just a little bit younger, but I'm old enough and have experienced the same enough to totally relate. I try to encourage younger women to stop giving flying fucks all the time, telling them how much freedom and contentment comes from not giving a fuck. If even one listens my job here is done. :)

As usual, your post/story is so nicely composed and natural--just a pleasure to read.

I am eagerly awaiting the Dropping of Flying Fucks :D

With my parents both gone, I do notice that a lot of my fucks have gone by the wayside.
So much of how I behaved was geared toward a desperate hope for their approval.
Now that that's off the plate, many of the things that I thought I cared about have evaporated.

I wonder what else will drop off as I get older! You make it sound fun!

Yeah, the mysterious pains are, well, a pain. Sometimes I think, "Do I have to go ask my doctor about this? (Is it likely to help?)" Usually the answers are no and no.
