Last night was way different than what I had expected. And way more fun.

My fancy ass regular ticket comes with a special entrance. And that entrance opens 2 hours and 15 minutes before game time. Also. No waiting, "Hey! Welcome back. You have a bg? Nice. Right this way. Enjoy the game!" But, last night, we had to enter with the unwashed masses. They did direct us to an assisted entrance for wheel chairs and scooters but still turns out they don't let the masses in until 90 minutes before game time.

Once they finally did open the gates, the security guy scanned me and my stuff like I had TERRORIST written on my forehead.

But once we got past him and into the elevator, we hit the exclusive air and all was fine. They have a bunch of suites and ours was very near the middle. And lovely. Ty, the sales guy, was there to greet us. I first met him on opening day, his first game of the job. He was shy and really tentative. But, last night, it was clear, he's now got it figured out and owns it. He was nice and fun and full of info. We had food and drink and a lovely lounge area and pretty fantastic seats. They had room for about 50 and but there were only about 25 so it was not at all crowded.

The game, itself, was lively. Lots to see. And, whew, we finally won one.

But the point of the evening was to explain 'sell' the changes for next year.My current ticket is in the Diamond Club which is a dining room and bar and the first 8 rows just behind home plate. Next year they are adding the Press Club. The Press Club has all of the same benes - private entrance, dining room, bar, special seats. But, it is going to be just below where we were last night and right behind home plate. So the view will be very similar.

My initial thought was 'nice' but nfw I'm giving up my fabulous seat. But the more I talked to Ty and thought about it and viewed where it would be and enjoyed the vantage point of the game from where we were sitting, the more I thought, hmmmm maybe.

The one huge factor for me is what Frank dubbed the insideness. The new seats are outside but under a roof. Never again would I have to have the top of my head and back of my neck fried by the sun. When I first get my schedule every year I check for afternoon games that are not in April or May. These are generally horrible games for me. Even this year the last one - in May and a very cool May at that - was not great because of sun battering. To be in even partial shade would be so much better.

But, do I want to give up my proximity to home plate? I enjoyed the cat bird's view a lot more than I thought I would. And the Press Club seats are more roomy with a little table. The Diamond Club seats are smaller and squished together with only your lap for perching stuff on.

So, now I'm in a real dilemma. There are a couple of questions for which there won't be answers until later. And the decision does not have to be made until after the end of the season. But, I'm building my pro con list for both options. Beach front? Or comfort?

Tonight I go back to my Diamond Club seat.

Yesterday, I was getting ready to throw out an old single use water bottle when a brain light bulb went off. I but a couple of treat sized holes in it and put some treats in and rattled it for Biggie, who went nuts. Cheapest cat toy ever.

I don't have anything planned for today. I feel like I should go out and do something but I really don't wanna. Right now it's cloudy and cool. Perfect go out and do something weather. So maybe, I'll just go walk around the block while I listen to Tina feed me more gossip about the Royal Family.

Is Press more expensive than Diamond?

My question .. and perhaps a deciding factor would be pricing. As someone who suffers from sun damage, a seat that had some shade would be preferable. Nice to have options!

And, whew, we finally won one.

Yay! Makes a change from the Worcester Warriors (my local rugby club) who are now dead bottom of the English Premiership and likely to remain there as there's only one game left this season. As I seem to have been co-opted as a Mariners fan as far as baseball goes, I'll take any small victory where I can!

My ex-husband when watching cricket always insisted on sitting behind the batsman so that he could see the line of the ball as it approached. Does that sort of thing matter to you? If not, the shade sounds really really good.

I get a kick out of this at the airport. Or rather, I want to kick someone at the airport. I am NOT in the terrorist demographic. Although some who are, aren't. We had a guy at work, a programmer from India or Pakistan, who had his laptop confiscated and was given a bad time in the back room. A programmer, for God's sake.
