I love Dreamwidth, but I hated the page/form used for making new entries. On my browser set up it was too tiny. And fiddly. Yesterday I found the Dreamwidth beta page. And it offers another option for posting entries. An actually much better option. No rich text but I can deal. I'm kind of sad to see that this beta is actually more than a decade old which does not bode too well for system improvements but whatever.

It's better so yeah because I was really going nuts with that regular one.

This morning's challenge is a bored cat. He finally hopped up here just now and bit me. 1. It was a very soft nibbly bite but 2. Don't you love a brain that says I want you to play with me so I'm going to attack you. Poor guy needs better signals. But, we're cool.

When I stopped into Grocery Outlet yesterday I found both Mission tortillas AND large bags of Temptations at half price. He's set now for a bit. I just loaded some into his water bottle with holes which he is now chasing around the room.

I have nothing on tap today. I have a couple of things I'd like to get at the Japanese grocery and I may go ahead and go even though I really don't need any of it until next week. Today's dinner is already made (leftovers) and tomorrow is a ballgame so no meals needed here. But, steps. And a fruit sando. So probably.

Tonight's baseball game does not start until 7. Back during pandemic play, they dropped the start time to 6:30. That 30 minutes made a huge difference. But tonight they go back to 7. Next year, they are supposedly implementing a timing mechanism for pitchers. They've been trying it out with great success in the minor leagues. A pitcher must throw the ball within 15 seconds (17 if there are men on base) or the ball goes to the batter. Trials in the minor leagues have shaved 20-30 minutes off games this year. YES PLEASE! We did actually beat one of the best teams in baseball last night against their best pitcher so that didn't suck.

I've pretty much given up on Instagram. Tried Facebook but they killed my account. I've been looking into Tumblr but can't quite latch on. I think I need the love child that TickTok and Tumblr make but I can't find it. I enjoy several sub reddits. And I have a constand feed of Twitter that scolls by all day. But I really feel like I need something else that I just can't find yet.

I finished watching Bosch: Legacy yesterday. Such a good show. Today's line up includes Season 2 (and maybe a rewatch of Season 1) of Kate and Koji (Britbox).

The bored cat has finally moved on - probably resting up for his next adventures. I think I'll go get dressed and head on out while it's still cool, not yet raining and I'm still motivated.

I will look into the beta DW posting. The normal one irks me too, it just doesn't do what I want.

My cat Rambo does that too - nips me when he wants attention or second breaktfast, elevenses, cuddle time etc. Usually when I am in a video conference for work. Makes for an interesting interruption :D

I am his third owner - am I allowed to put it like that (he had two human servants before me?) - and I was told he was taken away from his mom at four or six weeks old, so way too early. He never really learned how to cat properly. His signalling and signal reading skills are all over the place. I have two other cats, half-brothers, who grew up together and had a proper cat education. There have been gentle misunderstandings and midnight skirmishes of bar brawl proportions. Sometimes they still flare up. But by now we do get along and quite like each other. As long as I obey him ;D

I wonder... I adopted Biggie and his brother (who sadly, did not live past his first year) when they were 3 and a half months old. I have no idea when they were taken from their mother. Wonder if his very early months were just too hard. Biggie started biting me when he was about 2 - not nips - but full on rip my skin off bites. My hands and arms are a collection of scars. Finally I found a behaviorist to work with both of us and now, we are way better communicators - both of us. And all my skin has grown back.

I can't get with Instagram. I do love photos etc. but it's just so image heavy I don't enjoy it as a social platform. Facebook and Twitter are my go tos. TikTok does nothing for me either. Reddit I use for technical stuff, and mostly just posting questions.

My cat does this: "I want you to feed me so I'm going to attack you." I usually see it coming, and get my ankles out of his way.

The interesting thing about the pitch-timing rule is that the rule already exists. I think the limit only applies when the bases are empty, and it's either 12 seconds or 20 (it was changed from one to the other a while back, but I don't remember which way). What's new and different is that, with a clock, they're actually going to enforce it.

?? really? I've never heard that before. wild
