2022 Summer Begins

The weather isn't Summer yet but with Memorial Day behind us, Summer started anyway. And, of course, the longer we can postpone Summer weather the happier I'll be. We're supposed to see a few days of mid-70's this week but then it will cool back off. i'm ok with mid-70's but any higher and my bitching gets louder.

There were 3 of us at the bus stop this morning which is 3x the normal number. But coming home was an entirely different story. I got onto the bus and it was packed to the gills. Barely even room to stand. There are two stops and then the bulk of the trip. At the next stop, I got off. 95% of the people were masked but still. I'm in no hurry and I don't need those germs. The next bus came along in a couple of minutes but it was packed, too. I had a nice shaded seat at the bus stop. Again. No hurry. And there was a reward. The third bus was nearly empty.

Yesterday I went to Amazon Fresh to return sum orders but turns out I couldn't get there. No where to park. The entrance to their spacious parking garage was blocked by a Memorial Day Block party! I was so delighted to see that neighborhood doing more funner things than shooting up drugs and each other that I didn't mind one single bit. I'll take them today.

Biggie is going through a bit of a transition. He's rediscovering old toys and dissing his favorites. He's changing habits here and there. And starting to entertain himself instead of always relying on me to amuse him. I do not mind. He's growing up. Here's hoping his adulthood is less fraught with vet visits than his kittenhood!

Aside from my trip to Amazon Fresh, I got nothing on the agenda. Just the usual. Which is fine by me!

it's 89 and stretching here where I am today. And STICKY. I don't like this weather but..too bad for me.

We had mid-80s and humid – real summer weather – on Memorial Day. Yesterday (and today, and apparently the next couple of days), 50s-low 60s, mostly cloudy, not summery at all. So of course last night (high 50s) we got to spend three hours at Fenway Park watching the Sox lose to the Reds(!) as a result of two throwing errors and absolutely no offense. The only fun was watching (on the scoreboard) the Mariners do to the Orioles what the Orioles had done to us the day before.

So now it's the first of June, and we needed to use the space heaters in the kitchen and the computer room, and we'll probably need to use the fireplace tonight.

A woman got on the bus this morning with one of those knee wheelie things. I lifted the seat so she's have a place to put it. Then she couldn't get it in the spot right so I did that for her. She was very grateful.

Then I sat down and realized she had no mask on!!!! And I spent the rest of the ride thinking I should have gone over to the mask box and gotten her one and handed it to her. She was the only one on the bus with lips showing. Bitch.

Congrats on Biggie's emerging maturity. I always find it kind of nice when a kitten turns into a cat. Dobby's own kittenhood was, um, particularly vigorous, so that I had to entertain him almost constantly or he would get totally wild & bitey. I was delighted when he started settling down a bit a few years ago.
