Rain: Can you hear me now?
Jun. 5th, 2022 09:45 amI live on the 4th floor. Contrary to tv and movies, it rarely pours down rain here. We have a lot of gray days and misty days but not that many days of pouring rain. And very few of them during the months when the leaves are on the tree outside my terrace.
This morning, there are leaves on the tree and it's warm enough to have the door open and it's pouring rain. So I'm listening to the very rare sound of rain in my living room. And it's wonderful. Even Biggie is enamored.

I also live across the street from the football stadium where yesterday there was a concert going on starting about 3 pm. Luke Combs was the main event but the day was filled with other acts. By the time the music gets to my living room it is really just the sound of loud noise. And yesterday's was very loud. So, I closed the door and turned on the a/c and it was fine. I turned it off and opened the door before I went to bed. The noise was very muted by the time it wafted back to the bedroom.
Low Delta took some wonderful baseball photos yesterday and included them in his entry. They make a great Day At The Park story but also point out my ongoing argument with myself about next year's ticket. I keep going back and forth. My current ticket gives me such an up close view of the field. I can see the singer. I know the face of the regular Mariners photographer, If any batter has change in his back pocket, I can almost tell you the number and denominations of the coins.
But the new place will give me a view of everything. Far away but a nice wide angled shot of all the game, all the people, everything. Do I want to give up my close up? Really? ARUGH.
There's a small fabric/yarn/gift shop and sewing studio down the street that is going out of business. It's been there for an amazing 8 years. I'm shocked it lasted that long. It's a cute shop but such a small inventory for such a small audience. I've been getting emails now for a couple of weeks about their going out of business sales. I'm very proud of myself for ignoring all of them. The last one came today. I have a ton of fabric in this house and I haven't really sewn anything in a couple of years. I may well start again but sure don't need to buy anything. I know if I went into that shop, I'd come out with a bunch of fabulous deals that I do not need at all. So not going in, is a badge o' good for me.
The rain has stopped but I just saw a tweet that said we had more than a quarter inch of rain in less than an hour. We are currently .03 inches short of having the wettest June on record. And we've still got 2/3rds of the month to go. Wow.
I spent a fair amount of time yesterday digging through my own After I Die stuff. My will and powers of attorney (medical and everything else) are current and fine. My doctor has my wishes in writing on file. My beneficiaries are listed correctly on all my finance stuff. My brother has the digital details he needs. If something happens to him before me, everything shifts to his oldest son. And that would need professional help, but I can set that up if/when it happens.
So as it turns out, I think I'm in pretty good shape for dying any time. Whew.
I just finished off the last of my "hand" squeezed orange juice. Soooo good. Yesterday I was at the wholesale grocery and investigated bulk oranges. 10lbs (about 24 oranges) for $12. Good to know.
Ok time to get up and get organized so I can sit and watch the ballgame which is mid-day today.
