Everyone is bitching up a storm about the cold, wet weather we've been having. They all think hot sun is the way to go. They are wrong. I will be proven correct about mid-August.

SamTheFriend called me yesterday. We had a nice chat.I gather he's probably in his mid-80s. We swapped info about my cousin Bill. I learned that Bill had had prostrate cancer and been cured. Also he had had a kidney removed about five years ago. I didn't ask why and Sam didn't say. I suspect he didn't know. He did talk at length about how kind and nice and private Bill was. "Folks either loved him or hated him. And Bill really didn't seem to care one way or the other." He spent his days walking and reading and going to the gun club.

It was a good conversation and I was glad we had it. Further talks will be on point and probably few and far between which is fine by me.

SteveTheLawyer reported this morning that Bill's cremation insurance policy will cover the entire $1,400 bill. Cremation insurance??? I did not know there was such a thing. Hmmmmm

Today will be a Costco day. I need bacon and probably could do with topping off the gas tank. The baseball game is at 5.

I'm reading: Sparring Partners by John Grisham and The Palace Papers by Tina Brown.
I'm watching: Blue Murder and Kate and Koji (both on Britbox) plus the season finales of all the network shows (Rookie, FBI, FBI Most Wanted, L&O, L&O SVU, Grays Anatomy, The Resident, The Good Doctor, 911 and 911 Lone Star and Bob Hearts Abasola and Ghosts and probably others that I can't remember)

I'm glad you had a nice convo with Sam.

My dad had surprisingly taken out a cremation policy, so I didn't have to worry about any of that. It really touched me.

I have funeral insurance that pays out when I pop my clogs. It will cover a burial or cremation but I've told my sons to choose the cheapest possible funeral because I'd rather they and the granchildren got the money :)

Neptune Society does prepaid cremation and scatters ashes to sea. That's what I've got setup and my mother used it.

When my mother died she had this setup and I made one phone call and they took care of everything - death certificate, etc.

She had set this up because in her family there was always controversy about grave maintenance, etc.
