Holy crap on a stick! I just got the daily update from my bed on how I slept last night and, turns out, I slept perfectly!! I've always been a good sleeper but this is the first time I've ever been perfect!

However, Fitbit begs to differ.

I think both are flawed BUT 1. what the hell difference does it make and 2. I scored 100!!!

I did feel kind of rough for a lot of yesterday so I guess I needed it and I do feel great this morning. Felt great before I even saw the score :)

Some dude has written a book about Watergate - 50 years later. They did a nice interview of him and look back on CBS sunday morning. Kind of prescient except. I remember the Summer of those hearings. I had two good friends and we'd meet every single day after work for drinks and hearings. Like the rest of the world, we were glued to the TV watching every testimony. Every day.

I have watched none of the current hearings.

And the difference is... that was one small-ish group of rogue idiots. The hearings were conducted impartially. The rogue idiots did not get a free pass based on their political party affiliation.

Of course our sources of info were severely limited and we also believed what was reported on the evening news and it was reported by grown ups who did not giggle.

Such a different time. But what a summer it was.

I also spent many days, one Summer 20 years ago, watching the Anita Hill hearings. I was dating a guy who wanted to go to the beach for a week. I was glued to the hearings. He bought a battery operated TV. We watched those assholes with our toes in the waves.

I'm not going to watch these hearings. I'm over hearings. And I have no faith in the outcome. Ostrich me.

Nothing big happening this week. My big crochet project continues. I'm at a point now where progress is at its slowest but I'll marshal through. Most of the baseball this week starts at 7 pm. Biggie's chewey order arrives today and that's it for outstanding orders. I'm trying to cut out frivolous spending this month and so far have been pretty successful without depriving myself.

I have plenty to eat. I made ham biscuits out of the biscuits in the Church Chicken bag o' goodies. Today I will have the mashed potatoes and some of the okra maybe with some pork I have. Maybe for dinner I'll have some of the chicken. I can see eating on this feast for days. YUM.

For now I think I'll go get dressed and start some laundry.

Ah, I remember the Watergate hearings, too. I was a Republican back then and found them to be devastating. I had been thinking about going into political science in college, but that summer turned me off politics and reset my course toward a different career.

Yeah. Ostrich me, as well. It's difficult, and I don't want to become invested in something I can do nothing about.

Congratulations on being perfect!

I am not sure how old you are, and it doesn't matter. I feel guilty about ostriching, my generation is the one that marched against VietNam and whatever else. When I was working at the l.s., the faculty was approximately the same generation and whenever there was a problem it was 'let's have a protest...' and I never saw that it did any good. I"ll get over the guilt...

FTR I just turned 71. But I"m an older sister, so guilt is in my DNA. I'm trying to wash it out...

I have been trying to ostrich too, not being too successful but at least not glued to it.

How cool that you are now an enlightened being, see it can happen ;-)

My mother was like that with the Army-McCarthy hearings.

I have watched none of the current hearings.

Me neither. I don't need that kind of pain, and my daily newspaper gives me a pretty good rundown without my having to listen to the blather.

I'm ostriching as well. I feel similarly to you. The first day my husband was trying to watch them on his phone but we had other things going on.

Congrats on a good night's sleep!

As a QAnon watcher, I saw Feb 6 coming, I watched it all live, I've followed the consequences. And lack of them. After Bragg refused to move ahead with criminal charges in New York, I threw the towel in. I'm not going to watch the hearings. Wake me when Trump has the handcuffs on and not before.

Everything does feel like such a sham now. Everything is bullshit and they deliver it with a straight face.

I haven't watched the hearings either.

20 years didn't seem quite right so I had to look it up; the hearings Anita Hill testified in were in 1991! I was starting my senior year in high school so I didn't pay much attention.
