I already spent a while this morning budget planning for the month.I got everything settled, paid up and/or in the accounts ready. I've decided to treat the upcoming assessment as a special bill so that's not going to affect my monthly scheme. I have one account that I feed every month for special bills and since it won't have to cover a Mariners ticket in the fall as planned, I've got spare.

Next up after this entry is treadmill. And then laundry. And then a handful of other minor chores.

The big ticket item today is the ballgame. Not the Mariners but the
Fish Sticks!!
Even tho it's likely going to be a bit over my heat limit, I'm still jazzed. The ballpark is within walking distance of Popeye's. Fried chicken and baseball. There's just not many better combo's. There's also a dollar store kitty cornered from Popeye's that I'm hoping we have enough time for me to pop into. I want a small bag of dry cat food and I think the dollar store is the only place that carries small bags.

There's generally a lot traffic going from here to there at that time of day but today might be different because of the holiday. Regardless, I pinged Frank to ask if he'd be up for leaving a little earlier.

He countered asking for a Biggie play time! So he's coming about 4 to spend some time with His Highness before we head out. All in all, the perfect evening ahead.

And speaking of the cat. Turns out, Google says the two treat puzzles I got for him yesterday at Goodwill are actually slow feeders for dogs. Please do not tell Biggie. He thinks they are perfect for his treats.

And this one was really tough. But, he's not defeated!

Last night was Pride night at the Mariners. I watched it on TV. In former years they kind of did a nod but not much else. But, last night, they did it up big. A couple of other teams, this year, have refused to go along with Pride things (like emblems on uniforms, etc) and/or done absolutely nothing. But the Mariners went all in. The park was festooned in rainbows, the giveaway was a smart Pride hat. The announcers all wore special lapel pins. But, also, the entire team wore special Mariner Pride t-shirts out on the field for warm ups and used pride tape to wrap some of the bats. The darling of the team (the kid who cold easily make Rookie of the Year for all of baseball) wore a pride compression sleeve for the whole game. And they had retired umpire, who came out while still upmireing, Dale Scott, in the broadcast booth for a half inning.

BUT, the best bit. The very best bit. When a player comes up to bat, they play a walk up song just for him. It's whatever they request. One guy always has the theme from the Godfather because his mother is Italian.

We have this young catcher from North Carolina who got off to a slow start but has really picked up steam and been responsible for a game winner a couple of times. I can't remember what his walk up song is, but last night he changed it to Dancing Queen. Which, by itself, is adorable. But, then he went on to his his first ever triple. Then the A's missed a catch and he went from third to home on the same play. So a home run plus. Very rare. The announcers said "He's going to make Dancing Queen his permanent walk up after that!" I sure wish he would.

Ok time to get going on this busy day!

Biggie is so smart! I like reading about your baseball stuff but I've never been a big sports fan myself. If only there was a way to make cats playing with treat toys into something you could watch at a stadium :)

The Rays have traditionally done a nice Pride day. This year they did again, but there were like 6 pitchers who wouldn't participate. But my favorite players were all part of it, and they had hats, decals on their jerseys and it was really nice.

I'm glad Biggie enjoys his toys!

I need to get a feeder like that for Max. He eats his own food, then shoulders Ray Davies aside and gobbles up his. The little pig.

We're expecting big Pride gatherings here today (50 year anniversary since the first Pride gathering) with more than a million people expected in the London one and I expect here in Manchester will have a fair few as well especially around the gay Village area.

Biggie's toys look like fun for him :)
