Fun night and 10:30
Jul. 2nd, 2022 08:13 amFrank and I had a great fun night last night in spite of a few fails. Biggie was a snot and wouldn't play nice. He didn't ignore Frank but teased him instead. What a weird cat. We hit some traffic but, really, not a lot and found the baseball park easily and then discovered it was, indeed, within walking distance of Popeye's and the dollar store. We parked in between them and got the cat food from the dollar store and then on to Popeye's.
OMG what an experience. Shortly after we walked in, they locked the doors because the drive in line was too long and they couldn't serve both. It took forever to place our order and then a couple of forevers to actually get it. And they had no coleslaw. Then they had no napkins. We didn't even ask if they had forks. And the chicken - the reason we were there - was really not good at all. But, it was air conditioned and we don't ever have to go back. That place is a mess. Frank's theory is that they are so far away from Popeye's HQ that nobody knows or cares. There's another one in Renton. I'll try that one but I may have had my last Popeye's meal ever. Sigh.
Then on to the ballpark. It's in a really lovely little county sports complex. A soccer field, tennis courts and I don't even know what all else, but a lovely baseball field. All nicely kept up. There were aluminum bleacher seats in the shade for about 500 people. There were about maybe 150 at the game so it felt populated and totally uncrowded. The weather was 100% perfect. And, in the middle of the game, I remembered to be very grateful to be outside at that time of day in the Summer with 0 mosquitoes. I love Seattle.
The game was lively and fun with all kinds of between inning contests and shenanigans. Everyone was just enjoying the heck out of themselves. There was a cadre of boys ages +/- 8 sprinkled with their individual families all over the park. Every time a ball was hit out of the park, they would all race out to go find it - at top speed. It was hilarious.
They had a fish stick mascot who worked hard all night long and was just adorable.

They raffled off the opportunity to be the "fan batter". They had a uniform and everything. This is the fan batter guy at work with his sons and son friends watching closely.

He only batted once and did not get a hit but didn't embarrass himself and the kids had a blast watching.
It was just the funnest event.
Between the time I dropped Frank at home and got to my house, the Mariner game ended and I thought I was going to get trapped by the exiting crowds but, fortunately, it was fireworks night and everyone stayed in the ballpark until I got safely into my garage.
All night I watched my phone for the call from La-Z-Fucking-Boy about my Saturday delivery. They had promised to call on Friday night to give me a 3 hour Saturday delivery window. Nothing. Crickets. But, of course, I was not surprised. I resigned myself to getting their chair next week.
BUT, this morning, I had an email and a text with a tracking site. My window is actually 10-1 and the current eta is 11:30 - ish. The time has varied from 10:30 to 11:44 this morning so, clearly real time and with a map. They are now very close to the ballpark where we were last night. The "anticipated dwell time" is 18 minutes. I'm guessing that's how long they plan to be here for installation. I'm ready. I wrestled the white chair out of the way and it was claimed instantly.
