About twice a year, I have a bad night. For no good reason. I just wake up and can't go back to sleep. Last night was one of those nights. It's disconcerting and it makes me feel crappy all the next day which is today. It's no big deal really. Just annoying.

I kind of had things I was actually going to do today. And now I don't know if I wanna. Or if I have the spoons. I wanted to pop over to Goodwill. I have a short list and some donations. I want a couple of things at the grocery. But, I really don't need anything.

There is no baseball today so no schedule.I have a giant Subscribe and Save order due today but Amazon said 'sorry' tomorrow instead so I don't even that that to unpack and put away. I was going to strip the bed naked and wash it all and I might still do that.

But I also might just crawl back into bed and take a nap while I rethink everything.

I take some melatonin almost every night when I go to bed - and if I wake up and can't fall asleep again - rare - I take another one.

Also I have several relaxation rituals that help me fall asleep if I am having trouble.

1 of these:
Counting backwards slowly from 100 by 5's
Breath in for 4 seconds, hold for 5, exhale for 6 - repeat a bunch of times

And then this:
Meditation - concentrating on spots on my body starting at the top of my head. Often fall asleep before getting to my toes.

I have been an early waker all my life. I just deal with it, and even if I have to take a nap, I try not to get less than 6.5 hours per day. If I do I'm not easy to live with and make bad decisions.
