susandennisI am blowing tonight's game way out of proportion and I can't stop myself. We're play Houston and Houston is very good. They beat the Yankees yesterday in a double header. And the Yankees are nearly unbeatable this year.
The game is sold out. The city is hyped. Finally, they remembered they have a baseball team. But, if we lose tonight, they will forget again instantly. We are very used to losing but this loss would be extra super dooper hard. If we win, it would be our 15th win in a row.
I sent a text to my nephew who is astute in both baseball and odds and begged him to tell me the Mariners would win. He had some excellent points. Their star player has had a bad run of late. They will be tired after two hard games and a flight across the country. The pitcher they are using is one we have had great success against in the past. He thinks we have a better than decent shot.
If he's wrong, I'll just cut him out of the will. nbd
But it's only 9 am now and the game doesn't even start until 7.
I'm going to have to invent some distractions. It won't be food. There will be a fabulous spread before the game and eats throughout so today will be very few and very small nibbles.
I am making good and satisfying progress on my giant crochet project so there will be more of that. Maybe some laundry. Maybe some book reading (still reading Susan Orlean's The Library Book and it's still massively captivating. I'm going to be very sad when it's over) and TV watching (probably Silent Witness or maybe another season of Ozark).
But, first I need to pick out my Mariner shirt and charge up my scooter.
