And so it begins
Jul. 28th, 2022 07:27 amJulio did fine in the bathroom last night. He ate some. He pooped (the cutest little poops in the world) in the litter box (dog people can dis cats all they want but cat house training is a breeze). And he spent most of the night behind the toilet.
The playpen finally arrived a different (cheaper and better) one. I set it up in the living room so Biggie could get used to it.
Leah said to move Julio out of the bathroom and put Biggie in so he could get some good Julio smells done. And to give Julio some Biggie smells.
So I did just that. I moved Julio into the 'lounge' and shut Biggie up in the bathroom. I then furnished the lounge with the kitty necessities.

Julio went right to the back of the green whale cave.

I opened up the bathroom door but Biggie wasn't done yet so he stayed there for a while. When he finally came out, he figured out where Julio had gotten to and started sniffing and then - ooops

But, he backed off and the lounge popped back up (those damn mesh wire structures are really genius. kudos to the inventors) and he spent a long time just looking and sniffing. And looking and sniffing. No hissing at all.

Now, after about an hour and a half, he's settled in about 5 feet away. On watch duty. Julio is still in the belly of the whale bed. All is quiet. For now.
I think I'm going to wait until next week to take Julio to the vet for his initial checkup 1. because the Humane Society gave him a thorough checkup and 2. It's too hot to go outside if not necessary. There is really no rush. He's had enough changes/travel for a few days.
Thank goodness I did not donate some of the food that Biggie won't eat. They recommend pate for Julio and I happen to have some in the donation bag! Actually, we'll probably rename the donation bag, Julio's pantry.
Yesterday I woke up with this weird pain in my foot. My squishy sandals enabled me to still use the treadmill and it never got OMG Horrible but it bugged me. It was in a weird spot and hurt in a weird way. I decided it was a malignant bone tumor and wondered it I'd still be able to drive when they cut off my foot. (probably) Then, last night, it finally dawned on me that it was gout. It wasn't in the usual space and that's why it took me so long to figure it out. Popped some ibuprofen and it is well on its way to going away. I always have high levels of uric acid in my blood tests and my doctor is always surprised I don't get more gout. He'd be happy to know I got a little. It's been a while. So I guess no amputation.
The ballgame is at 5. I have plenty to entertain until then. And who knows what these two huckleberries will be up to. Stay tuned. Full reports here.

Date: 2022-07-28 10:22 pm (UTC)Julio! Welcome! I look forward to your new antics with Biggie.
You probably know this...
Date: 2022-07-29 10:41 am (UTC)Baby animals (and people) emit a pheromone that says "I'm a baby", so it eliminates most of the kerfuffle that happens when introducing animals. That's probably why Biggie isn't more territorial. This is so interesting to see unfold! Thanks for sharing. :)
