Early morning shenanigans

I woke up this morning to very loud meowing coming from the living room. I rolled over and went back to sleep. Then I woke up to very loud meowing PLUS whiskers on my face. I rolled over and went back to sleep. When I woke up again, there was still very loud meowing and a very large black cat sitting next to my head. I gave up and got up.

And then the real hijinks began. They were both so distracted by each other that neither paid much attention to their breakfast. There was lots of nose-to-nose-ing through the mesh. Then Biggie swatted at Julio. And then jumped backward. Julio did nothing.

Then Biggie climbed right up into the middle of the lounge and Julio swatted right back! Biggie jumped off with a giant WTF???

End of swatting.

There's been more swatting ad nose-to-noseing but that's all over for now. Biggie's off somewhere else and Julio - after some vigorous play with his stick - is in his whale with his head near the entrance so he can see stuff.

All is quiet for now.

I think I'm going out today. To Amazon Fresh for a couple of grocery items and Amazon Returns. Oh crap. I just remembered the tire light. Guess I'll tend to that first.

The 6-day fry is over. According to the weather wizards, never before have we had 6 consecutive days of temperatures over 90 degrees. On the bright side, it makes today's high of 82 which would ordinarily have me bitching about the heat, now grateful for the cool. Perspective!

Also today, I need to pull the muchkin out of his lounge and give it a good tidy. It's a mess of litter all over.

The next 3 baseball games are in New York against the Yankees. Several of our best players are out with injuries. I am expecting a bloodbath. But, at least it will be nice and early because of east coast time.

Dunno -- the Yankees have not been as scary since the all-star break. They're playing only .500 ball right now. That said, this series is tough for me! I always want the Yankees to lose (doesn't everyone?), but you guys are right on the Jays' tail in the play-off race! Plus the Jays are idle today so we'll lose more ground either way. :(

Similar dilemma for this Red Sox fan – trying to believe that the Sox are still in the wildcard race, in which case the Mariners are a rival, and there's no way anyone is catching the Yankees, but damn, it is hard to root for them.

The two swatting each other reminds me of Dylan (when he was about 7) and Bella as the puppy we got to keep him young. Bella would kind of attack him in that furball way puppies have. Dylan would take her down and hold her down by the throat for a bit like he was going to tear it out before letting her up. Dana freaked buy I made her stand back and let them work it out. This happened maybe three times and then it was over and the two of them were lifelong buddies. Dylan was always, always in charge but Bella could do no wrong as far as he was concerned.

cute. Leah has taught me a lot about letting things take a natural course and waiting a beat or 12 before getting freaked out. I think these two are going to be fine together.

Glad your weather has cooled down!

I keep trying to sneak peeks of Biggie and Julio on your webcams. (You were worried some people might get fed up with how many pics you were sharing - not me, ever!) I always seem to look at the wrong time - I rarely see them out and I definitely never see chasing and fighting.

I watched the other evening little moving shadows in the playpen that I was sure were two little triangle ears looking around. :) I felt very awed and smug, like maybe people who've seen bigfoot or a ghost do, so I was showing my husband - and then I felt crazy like someone who's seen bigfoot or a ghost, but I convinced him it was a kitten eventually!
