So the Humane Society sent me home with a bag of kitty kibble - a small baggie. Clearly they had hand divided a much bigger bag into smaller ones. Their instructions referenced Nurtrisource food so I just assumed that's what was in the baggie. Both Biggie and Julio LOVE the baggie stuff. So I bought a bag of Nutrisource. The smallest available. 6 pounds. Not the same stuff. Yesterday I bought a different kind of Nutrisource. 6 pound. Not the same stuff. Neither of these was cheap, by the way.

Today, it finally dawned on me to ask the Humane Society. Triple DOH! They responded in minutes - Purina One. Cheap. I always think I'm so smart and then I get jerked up by my own stupidity. Sigh.

Both cats are very busy today. Biggie was giving Julio a run for his money but decided to retire to the sewing room to rest. Julio is still going strong. Kittens have much to discover.

The next frontier is going to be the litter box. Instead of Julio learning to use the house litter box, Biggie's taken to using Julio's porta potty litter box. Today I moved them side by side while both cats watched. Hopefully they'll tire of the little one.

Shame about the cat food but I’m not entirely surprised. Rescue places tend to run on tight budgets so fancy cat food would only be for those who can’t tolerate the cheap stuff. Also, cats are weird and why would they want the stuff you made a special effort to get?

Bonnie gets Science Diet 7+ hairball prevention. Bought her some last week, her kitty food cost more than my groceries. We always fed our cats Purina, and they always lived a long life.

YOu have a good point. My vet told me he feeds his cats Purina because 'if I run out on the weekend, I can always get it at a grocery store'. Maybe we'll look at changing. He did tell me not to give her Blue Buffalo, it tends to be nutritiously dense and would make her put on weight. She doesn't need that.

You might be able to...

...mix a small amount of the disliked food with the Purina so you can still use it. ;)
