Guessed Wrong
Aug. 9th, 2022 10:03 amMy vet does not do appointments. It's first come, first serve. They keep a spreadsheet on the web so you can see the traffic during the hours they are open at each of their three locations. It rarely shows less than a 5 hour wait. I sent an email last week asking about the best time to bring Julio in for his new kitty appointment. The response said not Monday or Friday.
I was hoping for a little more detail but whatever. I figured best move would be to be first in line. They open at 8. They are 15 minutes away. So at 7:15, I salted on a little hair, grabbed the carrier and off we went. There was a young woman and her dog in front of us. And by the time they opened, 30 minutes later, there was a queue of about 8 animals and their people behind us.
A really nice guy behind the counter recognized me and asked about Biggie which was very sweet. He took the info and then put us in an exam room. 30 minutes later, a tech stuck her head in to tell me they hadn't forgotten but were really busy. 30 minutes after that, the tech came in and 30 minutes after that we were paid up and out the door. But I did go back to Biggie's friend and asked really when is the best time and got the straight poop. 10-2 Tues/Wed/Thurs. Steer clear of first thing in the morning or anytime after 4:30. THANK YOU!
But, it's fine. The doctor pronounced Julio terminally cute. No one asked if he was named after the baseball player. Next month I have to bring in a poop sample. Hope he still keeps pooping small or I'm liable to get Biggie's instead.
There was zero crying in the car unlike other cats in this household.
Now we're home, and happy to be here. Julio ate a second breakfast. Biggie gave him a total tongue washing - head to butt - to get that vet stink off him. Now everyone is resting.
It was deliciously cool out. And there were rain drops. They pretty much dried before they got all they way ground but I - and the others in line - totally appreciated the effort.
Now I have to decide on vet insurance. I have 24 hours. If I don't get it, he'll get some kind of horrible something. If I do get it, he'll be fine forever. So, yeah, this time I'll probably get it.
I had a couple of errands I wanted to run but I felt badly about keeping Julio in the carrier although it's not hot out and he would have probably not minded. But, I can always do them tomorrow.
I skipped the treadmill in favor of getting to the vet early. Should have skipped the early vet instead! I should get on the treadmill now. I might. Don't get your bettin' wallet out just yet.

Date: 2022-08-09 08:00 pm (UTC)I can't believe a vets would run themselves that way though, that's not just annoying and stressful for the owners but seriously stressful for the animals, even for routine stuff.
