My beautiful 'new' computer is dead. The chromebase with the gynormous screen Won't power on. I bought it in May so the warranty is still fresh but connecting with HP service could not be more complicated and ridiculous. Once I got a person, between my phone's 'hold assist' and their process it wasn't too bad. I was transferred and the music was horrible but my phone took over so I didn't have to listen.

The verdict was that I have to send it for repair. I allowed as how that sucked and I wanted a replacement (since that's what they will do anyway) but no. I did get expedited shipping and a loaner if it gets held up for parts or something.

They are going to fed ex me a box and then I have to take it to a fed ex location. It weighs a ton. What a PIA. And then is it going to fail in another four months? Poopy pooopy poopy.

Thank goodness I held onto my big old Lenovo chromebook. It will take some getting used to but at least it works.

It does astonish me - even after years of using the chrome operating system - how easy it is to move from hardware to hardware and not lose a beat. Now you can save whole browser sessions as "desktops". I just revived one from last May that had all my tabs set up just like I like 'em. Back in biz in no time.

In cat news, I have decided that the cats will eat fancy feast in the small cans. I can get it anywhere, opening the cans does not shred the skin on my fingers. Millions of cats love it. Julio thinks it's fine. Biggie will learn to love it. Decision made.

They have been particularly frisky. I love watching them wrestle. It's like when The Smalls was here. Except better. Having two kittens is too wild. Having one kitten and one playful teenager is way better. Biggie has been very good about playing with Julio but also claiming his space so Julio gets some time on his own. Right this minute, Biggie's on top of the cabinet here next to me and Julio is under the day bed. Nap time. Peaceful.

In 24 hours, the march to cool begins and the next time it gets this hot, I will have central air conditioning. That's my mantra for today and tomorrow.

I am not going anywhere today. I'll be right here encouraging my air conditioner to keep up the good fight until he can retire next month. I got the forms to fill out for the HOA to have the new system installed. Shockingly, their system sucks. You can't ask for permission until you have an install date. You can't get an install date until you have their permission. I'm going to at least get it started today.

Also probably some laundry.

Bonnie's vet told me it's good and has fewer calories than some big highly touted higher priced canned food.

He told me lots of highly touted foods were very calorie dense (he especially name Blue Buffalo and Blue Wilderness).

I think I've just been throwing money away trying to please Biggie. His picky days are over. He has meat and fish Fancy Feast and a mix of dry and he's going to have to deal. :)

I like to think Bonnie likes what she's eating, I'm sure you feel the same way. She gets Science Diet 7+ hairball formula for breakfast, and a bag of that costs more than my groceries for a week.

That sucks about your new computer. I hope the replacement is better but the way they're acting about it isn't really inspiring confidence is it?
