I spent a night without the air conditioner on last night and was very comfortable. This morning it is 61 on my terrace. Glorious. It's supposed to warm up until Wednesday and then reasonable again and I sincerely hope it is the true path to winter!!
Last night's game was really not good baseball and a mess of mis/wrong communications to way too many people. They clearly have issues with sold out games plus special events. I'm sure glad I have no interest in the All Star Game stuff next year OR they get it figured out before then.
But, the ceremony and hoopla surrounding Ichiro's induction to the hall of fame was fabulous. Just perfect and classy. And he really was. For 20 years he's always had an interpreter and rarely spoke any English. Also he always had a wife and we never saw her. She was there last night and he gave a perfect 15 minute speech in English. It was humble and kind and on point and perfectly placed and full of hilarious humor really well timed. So amazing. Well worth the suffering through of the rest of it.
Oh and also the Diamond Club buffet was a combo of foods I don't like and foods that were really bad. I had a little salad and then went to my seat and ordered off the menu and ate way too much as usual but it was fun to have an actual hot dog finally at a baseball game (they always have them available but I'm always too full).
Also last time, they had this great peach pie. We don't get decent peaches here ever and so no peach pie. So this was a great treat. I was telling one of the ushers how great it was (I'm usually the first one out in my section so I get a lot of usher chat). This was last Tuesday. Last night they had it again! So good. PLUS the usher came over and told me that after our chat on Tuesday, he went back into the kitchen and asked and found out the pie came from a local neighborhood bakery called AlaMode!! I haven't been in one of their stores in several years because the closest one is on the other side of the broken bridge.
Said bridge will be fixed and open on September 18 and my list of places to visit once it is, has just grown by one.
Julio has taken to enjoying the high perch in the little cat tree. He's so big now, he fills the bowl. The new, bigger tree arrives tomorrow.

He tried joining Biggie on the chair but Biggie said no thank you.

Oh and the plants on the mantle? Lesson learned... NOT

But, fyi, that last photo was taken yesterday. Today, those plants are all looking way better in their new pots. That damn pothos is amazing. It not only doesn't die, it doesn't even stay discouraged long!
And in another bit of cat news, the conversion to Fancy Feast has worked. Biggie digs right in now. Every time. I have some Temptations lickable treat that I squirt over turkey and now they even eat that. Plus, washing the cans out for the recycling has turned out to be no big deal. And my fingers are no longer in shreds from that Petits packaging.
It's so nice and quiet here this morning. I miss the band - mostly drums but sometimes horns - that often practices across the street near the football stadium on Sunday mornings. Wonder where they are? I've missed them with the a/c on and the door closed.
Today I think I'll sort out the sewing room - move stuff out of the way, clear surfaces and make sure there are sheets on the bed. I don't know how much of the plans for their visit will be affected by my nephew's COVID. But I think I'm going to plan for everything. And so make the room ready for my brother. (My nephew and his wife are/were staying at the hotel two blocks away.)
Then there is the baseball game to watch. Crochet to do. And cats to be amused by. Just a lovely Sunday.
