thanks for all your suggestios
Sep. 6th, 2022 01:46 pmThe Mariners broadcast on a local sports network (Root*). Root is ONLYavailable via cable, Fubo and DirectTV. No where else.
MLB.TV and YouTubeTV-add-ons and all other baseball options are blocked out so that if you are in or from (your billing address) Seattle, you cannot watch Mariner games. No matter how much $$ you throw at them.
Yes, you can try VPN and stream MLB.TV. But, this year, for instance, MLB.TV has routinely canceled accounts that they catch using VPN. Reddit is rife with complaints and examples and failed work arounds.
So as of right now, if I don't have cable or FuBo or Direct TV, I cannot watch Mariners baseball.
This year, I'll keep cable til the end of the season. (Even if they play in post season, it will be on non-Root networks.)
And then, I'll deal with next year, next year.
*There is likely to be little change with Root. The Mariners own 60% of the network and have a contract with them through the year 2030.

Date: 2022-09-12 02:28 pm (UTC)We turned off cable years ago and went cold turkey. The entertainment source I have turned to is YouTube. I like being able to choose what I view and the variety. I've subscribed to Hulu and Netflix in the past, but just am not a mainstream watcher. Once burnt, twice shy. I'm considering YouTubeTV, but everyone in my circle is watching Prime (we have Prime, too), Netflix and I don't hear much about Hulu these days.
Oh, and the sports stuff isn't a hook for me. Nightsky might be happy, though.

Date: 2022-09-12 02:32 pm (UTC)honestly, i think if i didn't care about network tv or local news or sports, i'd stick with prime and netflix and ignore the rest.
i like youtube.tv but i like network tv and local tv. hulu's ok but too pricey for the offerings.
