Matt and Cyndi got off the boat and to the hotel and even into their room early. We got together and hopped on a trolley to go up to Capital Hill for lunch. Half way there, the trolley broke. They let us off and said another would be by very soon. Turns out very soon equals 20 minutes in trolley land. I was seconds away from hitting the Come Get Us button on Lyft, when it pulled up.
All fine, tho. We had a great lunch and took the light rail back home. We spent the rest of the day here just hanging out. It was nice and relaxed and fine. They stayed until the end of the Mariner game (not relaxed and fine), which was a little too long but whatever.
They have no plans for today. I made a couple of suggestions that they didn't leap on to so I guess we'll kind of repeat yesterday. Except it is supposed to be very hot today so they might not want to hang here. But, we discussed and they seem to be pretty much go with the flow and if no flow, don't go. Whatev.
The situation causing the hot weather is also trapping the smoke from wild fires here today. Happily both the smoke and the hot seem to be one day affairs and all will be better tomorrow.
In the middle of last night's horrible Mariner's game, I got an email from my Mainer's sales guy. A while back they sent the bill for next year. I had already decided to pass before I got it.
Hi Susan,
According to our records you have unsuccessfully renewed your Mariners Season Tickets for 2023. Your current renewal status is due to either:
A failure to enroll in a payment plan or purchase your membership in full by the September 1 deadline, or
A payment malfunction caused by incomplete credit card information.
Failure to renew your season tickets will impact your access to All-Star Week events, consecutive member tenure, and access exclusive member benefits.
That first sentence made me want to be a grammar teacher so I could use it in class. It's a doozy.
And he totally missed the third option. A clear decision on your part that doubling the price was totally not worth it and so you decided to bail.
1. I do not care 1 tiny bit about the All Star Weed events. 2 I have no idea what good consecutive member tenure is to me.
3. Ok, I will miss some of the exclusive member benefits but not sure which ones cause you didn't list 'em all. Marketing fail.
The email just provided backup to my decision. I'm not regretting my decision to pass.
I do need to get into the shower and get dressed and be ready for whenever the kids emerge.

Date: 2022-09-10 06:04 pm (UTC)And yeah - you'd think they would list out all the Super Awesome reasons to renew - especially given that they know they've drastically increased the price and I'm sure there are lots of people who were on the fence about renewing...

Date: 2022-09-10 08:33 pm (UTC)Ha! That's not a grammar mistake - it's a lie! You haven't unsuccessfully renewed. You HAVEN'T renewed. In fact, you've chosen not to renew. What an odd way of convincing you to renew, by making you think you simply were "unsuccessful!"
*shaking head*

The 'you have failed' approach is really poor.
