Smoke 'em if ya got 'em
Sep. 10th, 2022 11:31 amYesterday morning, I sent Matt a text telling him they should take my car and go explore if they wanted to. After a bit, he replied "we're kind of explored out, but thanks". I feel ya, bro.
They came over at lunchtime and we Lyfted up to Queen Anne Hill to an interesting looking pub that Google found me. Turns out it was just a run of the mill neighborhood pub with very friendly service and surprisingly good food. Perfect.
We had seen the sky from the Lyft ride and it was ugly yellow. Filled with smoke. After lunch, it was still cool enough to stroll and there were four or five blocks of interesting strolling but after one, I had to call a halt. The air was just scary. We were all getting warnings* on our phones so we Lyfted home.
*They were first warnings that people with lung issues should stay inside. Then we started getting warnings that people who like to breath should stay inside. It was dicey for sure. I cannot imagine what it must be like near the actual fires. (I think the closest one is about 2 hours from here.)
By that time the Boston game was starting. (Matt's a rabid Red Sox fan) so we watched it. It was over just before the Mariners game started and the street below my terrace which leads to the Mariners park, is strewn with hot dog vendors. So we sent Matt out to fetch dinner. Delicious.
As was the Mariner game!! Julio clearly now knows his name. When his name sake does a good thing - which is several times every game - we should out JUUUULIOOOOOO and he comes running. It's pretty hilarious.
Matt who is 6'3", did some more tall person chores for me. He is really quite handy. Cyndi is lucky.
Today the air quality is a little better. It will be fine tomorrow but today's got a bit of the yuck left over. You can see it already (8 am).
But, today, we're going to the baseball game so my lungs will just have to deal. They are coming over at 11 and we will head to the park.
I will admit that I'm kind of over having company at this point but they are certainly easy. They are happy to hang and do nothing which is, of course, my wheelhouse.
They will be heading to the airport tomorrow about noon.
My Google Alert of me turned up what will be a fun follow. Turns out, I'm getting married on 2/29/2024 in Iceland!! Details are scarce right now, though.
