I love Diet Dr. Pepper. When I first moved here, they didn't have it in Seattle and I had to special order it from a friendly Safeway store manager. Soon, however, Seattle caught on to this wonderful nectar.

But, weirdly, there are periodic shortages and have been way before supply chain issues got popular. Sometimes, every store is out. (I want the half liter bottles.) Luckily, these days, I can discover this online instead of having to go from store to store like in the olden days. Plus, I'd much rather have it delivered than schlep.

Amazon Fresh is my grocery delivery of choice but they have been out for weeks. So I went to Safeway. I haven't had their delivery in a long time so good excuse. Except they were out, too! QFC - also out. hmmmm

Finally my check yesterday revealed that Safeway had scored a hit (black market? who cares!) and now that, plus other groceries are on the way to me. And will be here before noon.

So I'm showered and dressed and ready.

I have a bunch of smaller chores today and the cabinet which I really want to get finished today.

Julio (the baseball player, not the kitten) is out for at least 10 days with a bad back. This is very not good. Julio, the kitten, is growing like a weed. Maybe I should suit him up for center field.

Right now he's on bird duty. There are lots of them out there this morning and they are really trash talking.

It is amazing how many shortages there are and how quickly we become used to them. Unexpected stuff, too. I don't drink it but Dana is addicted to sparkling water and there was a time a few months ago when it was all gone. Nothing I'm addicted to is shorted but I see the holes in shelves.

I got this same thing going with International Delight Cinnabon Coffee Creamer. I can't find it anywhere local. Clearly, it's a regional shortage because I checked in all my Hilton Head stores and it's in stock there. The only place I can purchase it is on Amazon from a small company with a delivery date of October 2nd. Too many reviews say it arrives spoiled. Ugh. Guess I'd better learn to like something else! 😬

Growing up Dr. Pepper was the only soda we drank at home. It turns out that the town where my mom was born is where it was invented. Waco, TX. Whenever I visit TX all my relatives there are religious about their Dr. Pepper. They get it from this special store that still uses cane sugar to make it... so that it tastes like it did when they were kids.

It's odd stuff that's unavailable, too. One month there was no distilled water closer than Walmart, 22 miles away. Couldn't buy Premium Saltines for *months* anywhere. Most recently, regular bags of noodles - name brand or store brand were just gone. (Something called NoYolks noodles were on the shelf. I don't want those.) That nightmare ended yesterday when I found 5 bags of Hannaford egg noodles at my nearest store. I bought two.😇
