susandennisLast night's game was tied 1-1 for many innings. Tense. very tense. It was a sellout and no one had left early.
Bottom of the 9th inning. The Mariners had 2 outs. Our hurt catcher was called in from the bench to pinch hit. He had 3 balls and 2 strikes - if you made up this shit, it would never fly - and hits a home run.
It was just too much. For everyone. Even Frank's phone butt dialed me. (He also texted but, in singularity, my phone turned his butt dial into a missed call.)
ESPN today says that Cal Raleigh is the 1st player in MLB history to hit a pinch-hit, walk-off home run to clinch a playoff spot for his team.
It was beyond amazing and wonderful.
I watched the celebration on TV and then turned out the lights and just listened to the loud, obnoxious fans screaming and dancing on the street below my terrace. It went on for a long time. (Note to self: Be nicer about Seahawks fans if/when they ever win again.)
