Finally

About mid-summer, I bought this silly thermometer. I wanted one that would change colors with the temperature and this was all I could find. It works but not specifically enough to suit me. It's been solidly red since I bought it.

Until today! It was decidedly orange when I got up this morning.

Finally maybe this fucking summer will be over. It's still too hot to sleep well. I'm so ready for cold.

The final week of baseball, after all the playoffs are decided is stupid. No one really gives a shit. Especially for those in the playoffs, it's just an opportunity to get hurt. Monday, we had just such a stupid injury on the Mariners and yesterday we had one guy hit twice by pitches. We had a double header which was way too much baseball anyway. At least we only have one game today. The poor BlueJays have the world's most stupid double header today.

MLB needs to be taken over by brain cells.

And we still don't have start times for Friday's games.

Biggie crawled up here on my lap a bit ago. Julio was dancing around the recliner and poking his head up to see us. Finally, he got on his hind feet and took a front paw and BOOPed Biggie on the butt and then ran. It was hilarious. Biggie was all whatevs. Now, Julio is in the tree and Biggie is still here.

Today's big adventure is salad. I have not been to the grocery store in forever. So there is really not a single bit of produce in this house. I need lettuce. And cucumbers. So, it's off to the nearby Amazon Fresh. No need for a big Safeway or Kroger shop, Amazon has good produce.

Then the afternoon (stupid) baseball game. I noticed yesterday that the dirty clothes hamper was getting full so maybe some laundry needs doin'.

I think I'll go pop into the shower. Be nice to be fresh for amazon fresh.

And I'll be able to stay up to watch the whole game!

(Unless the Jays are really shit, in which case, I'll watch other stuff...)

last time I was in T/O was about this time of year, I attended one of those stupid baseball games. The Yankees had already won their division so we didn't get to see any Players Of Note. But it was fun baseball, we all had a good time and the Jays beat the Yankees. BTW that was the year the Red Sox beat the Yankees in the Series. 2004...

The poor BlueJays have the world's most stupid double header today.

I did wonder why they bothered to play both games. The Jays had already clinched 4th seed, so it really didn't change anything.

This might have been the first time in a while that absolutely none of the games played on the last day could have any effect on the final standings. It seems to me that not that long ago, if a game was rained out late in the season, they would announce that it would be replayed on such-and-such a date if the result would affect the standings. (Well, maybe this only happened if the teams involved had no mutual off-days and the game would have to played after the normal end of the season.)

I wonder if there's been pushback from the players' union because they want a chance to pad their stats.
