greghousesgf reminded me that none of the people I interacted with to get my cable TV canceled - a total of 5 different people - even came close to trying to stop me or even mentioning that they were sorry to lose the business, much less trying to entice me with deals.

I'm thinking as soon as all us old people die, that will be the end.

And, as I suspected, both TiVo's work fine without cable. Neither can record but I have stuff on there that I wouldn't mind seeing so I can just watch it whenever I get to it.

While we waited our turn to have our own issue settled with Spectrum Cable (long story), we watched others cancel their cable service and return their boxes. Every time they did, the customer service person had this passive-aggressive way of encouraging them to stay and guilted them with a "sad," "Sorry to see you go!" Of course, no one stayed. Why they made this effort, I'll never know. It was fruitless and awkward.

I know we're in the dark ages remaining with cable. However, I have enough trouble with making technology work, and managing streaming services seems like one more thing I'd screw up! I think you're right that at some point Cable disappear. If I'm still around, I'll have no choice but to figure out all the streaming services!

oh, the people that I dealt with tried to stop me. By arguing with me and trying to convince me they weren't overcharging me when I said they were. All this did was piss me off.

I noticed that too when we canceled our cable, they know it is overpriced and old fashioned, hee hee.

At this point, I believe all of them are trying to get into the streaming game. They see the writing on the wall. Of course, they could just lower prices and work more on maintenance… I honestly don't understand why they don't do that (more people would get cable if it were cheaper)

I've never had cable and don't know anyone my age who does, but my parents still do. They use it partially to watch NHK International programs about Japan.
