The blessings of time
Oct. 12th, 2022 01:32 pmBack in the olden days when I worked for a living, I had lots of personal free time since I had no kids and no family but I still always felt like there was never enough. My list of things I 'should' be doing was always so long.
So now, when I'm an official LOL (Lady of Leisure), I seem to enjoy and appreciate time way more than it's probably worth.
This morning I decided to take a walk over to the grocery. I need sandwich cheese. But, before I go, I think I'll just look up some stuff on the internet.
When I was little, I had a dread fear of quick sand. In every western on TV, some dude always got trapped in quick sand and usually died. (FYI, Wikipedia says it's a thing but not a big thing and was mainly a trope of 60's TV. SCAM!)
Anyway, this morning, I got sucked into the quick sand of the internet and kept thinking, I need to go. But, then wait! Why, I don't have to go anywhere, I can wallow in bytes as long as I want. And I did.
And I'll be damned if I didn't just do it again. Google offers protection insurance for my new phone but not for the watch. I feel like the watch is a lot more fragile than the phone. On reddit a favorite work around is to buy from Best Buy and sign up for their Geek insurance. But, I hate Best Buy. So I just went shopping for gadget insurance. I looked at several options and settled on Akko. $154 for phone and 25 gadgets including smart watch. For a year. I feel better.
I made chorizo and cheese pizza pies. The filling was fine. the pizza doe was too tough. Next time, I'm going to use pie dough. Premade. That will be easy peasy and delicious.
Julio has a new hiding place. I know it's in one of the bedroom closets but I don't know exactly where.
So I never went anywhere today but I did do all the laundry. Including three wash clothes which were on the night table folded and ready to go into the bathroom when Julio knocked them right into the litter box. Right through the hole in the top. So... now I have more laundry.
We got another email from SteveTheLawyer about the house. He's now strongly advocating that Sam and I join the guy who wants to buy it as silent partners and flip the house. WTF??? No No 1000 times no. I wouldn't do that if the house was next door. I sure as shit ain't doing it with a shack in Oklahoma.
I wrote him back and thanked him for his insight but allowed as how if the guy buys it for $90,000 and doubles his money in six months, I'll be impressed and happy for him. Not sad for me and Sam. I said I felt strongly that we should sell it to him NOW. Sam sent an email about 30 minutes later saying that he feels exactly as I do. Sell now. No regrets.
Hopefully, Steve will sell the the fucking place and get on with the rest of the estate settlement. (New peops: My Oklahoma cousin, Bill, died in June and left 2/3rds of his estate to me and 1/3rd to his friend, Sam. He left it in a trust to be administered by Steve.)
Ok, time to do some tv watchin' and crochetin'.

Date: 2022-10-14 03:02 am (UTC)Definitely agree with you about not getting involved in flipping the house. People kept telling me I should rent out Bruce's condo and I couldn't imagine anything worse than trying to manage a condo 800 miles away from me. No thank you. Could I have had an income stream? Sure. Would it have been a huge pain in the ass to deal with in every possible way? Also yes. Glad to hear you and Sam are on the same page too!
