Yesterday's ballgame started at 1 and ended at 7:30. 17 innings with no runs scored by either team. The first 9 innings were fun and interesting. The last 9 innings were grueling and painful. Finally, in the 18th inning, the Astros scored a run and we could not. The End.

I could not help but think about what if I had bought that ticket. I could see the seat on the TV. A nice looking guy was sitting there. I would have ended up paying $42 an inning. The regular season games this year, if 9 innings, cost about $36 an inning so the price bump would not have been that much and it included all the food and drink.

But, the smoke OMG, you could see it in the TV shots. I cannot imagine sitting/standing/shouting in it for 7+hours. I just looked and it's pretty much the same this morning 152 AQI.

So, I will start my Life Without Baseball still here inside. Which is fine. I have tons of TV to catch up on and crocheting to do. I have plenty of food and no reason to venture out.

I think I'm grateful that there are no more baseball games to lose.

I watched the whole thing too. Obviously the longest game I've ever seen. I was researching the Pawtucket Red Sox when it ended with 16 innings to go before that record was threatened.

Now I can watch Austin FC lose today and the Jaguars fizzle out another season and my fall will be complete.

Then there's the longest Major League game (by innings) in history, played between the Brooklyn Robins (as they were then called) and the Boston Braves on May 1, 1920. Still tied at 1-1 after 26 innings, it was called on account of darkness. It took 3 hours and 50 minutes(!) and both starting pitchers pitched the entire game.

Things have changed a bit in the last 100 years.

I think Julio feels the same way about baseball. I'm sorry about your team though it would have been so much more exciting if they'd won ONE game.

I have another friend who lives in Seattle and she posted a photo of your sunrise today. Red and smoky. Guess it's not a great place to relocate.

well, I suppose. I know where I want to go, I want to go NORTH. And I didn't mean to disparage your beautiful city.

Pat and I watched the game. That smoke in the air was scary. I don't know how the players did it, running around in that bad air.

The Mariners played well and did their best. It was much like the Rays. They went 15 innings before they lost in the wild card round. So I can sympathize.

I'm still sick from yesterday's air. Today I had enough sense to shut all the windows and run the air through the furnace just to use the filter. I ain't going out there unless I have to.

Hello Susan - I’m trying to figure out how to make a rss feed for a LiveJournal journal (lifeinroseland.) I thought of you because I remember that you made some for a few of your LJ friends (and I’ve added some of them to my own DW journal!) Could you point me to a good explanation of how to do this? I’m wondering if there’s an app for this….?
[And please ignore this if it’s too much of an imposition!]

I wish your air would improve. It's a shame that you can't go out as much as you like, but I get making one's own fun at home.
