Not too long ago I was in the kitchen and needed my hand held vac. I went to the bedroom closet where it hangs, not too conveniently, over the hot water heater. It's so ugly, that it has to be hidden and that's the only place that I really have to keep it. I did not have a brilliant idea but I did think - man, someone just has not thought this through.

Well, now DirtDevil has. http://www.dirtdevil.com/default.aspx The Kone. I'm going to get two - one black and one plum. One for the living room and one for the fish room. I could get white now but I'm holding out for colors. August 15. Glad someone thought that through.

In other news... it looks like the trees that block my view are headed for tree heaven!!

(I know there are people reading this who think the death of a tree is a terrible thing. I'm sorry. I hate these damn trees with a passion. They are ugly. They block my view. They provide no shade. They shed onto my terrace. I hate them. I don't think all trees should live in forests but I think city trees should be carefully chosen and carefully placed. These were neither.)

We learned several years ago that they are the wrong trees for the spot and should have never been planted there for a variety of reasons but the city refused to cut them down. Now, apparently, they are fucking up the city plumbing and the city's in a rush to level 'em. Of course, it's a government agency, so 'rush' means I'll be lucky if they are gone by next Summer but it's a start.

And, then my view might really change according to the morning paper... It sounds like the plans for a residential/retail development are once again on the table. When I first bought this place, my boyfriend, at the time thought it was a terrible investment. Among the many reasons was that he said they were going to build low income housing in the parking lot. That was almost 15 years ago.

I think it would be fun to have a new construction project to watch outside my terrace. I loved watching Qwest Field go up. I added an arrow pointing to my place in this picture from the paper. (I noticed that the artist did not get the memo about the death of my trees.)

I sort of miss the Kingdome, ugly as it was.

It was like the corpse of a giant Michelin man. "Baby got back. . ."

Doesn't this mean the new building is going to block your view? And where are the stadium spectators going to park?
