17 degrees
Dec. 22nd, 2022 08:05 amEvery night, before bed, I open the sliding doors to the balcony. It's something close to 25 feet from that door to my bed and there's a 7/8ths wall in between. I like it chilly when I sleep so it's perfect. But, 17 is just a little too chilly even for me. So no door open last night. So it's a toasty 60 degrees in here this morning.
17 is pretty severe for Seattle. But, that's not going to be the tough part. It's supposed to warm up a bit and rain today/tonight which will mean ice and sleet everywhere. I'm pretty sure there will be no getting to the pool tomorrow. Too bad I can't swim remotely.
My trip to the grocery was a bit concerning yesterday. Fortunately, for most of it, I got behind a bus that was going very slowly and I just followed it, with a good distance between us. The side streets were very icy. The parking lot at the grocery had been shoveled but still had a good bit of ice on it. I was wearing my new Croc boots which turn out to be great ice boots. I was glad to get home safely and think I'll just stay here until the melt.
I got lots of good meals. They have different stuff on different days and I don't yet have a handle on what days have what but I'm getting there and discovering favorites. Yesterday they had their teriyaki chicken thighs which I know from experience are great hot or cold. And they always have prime rib that they slice right there for you. It's pricey but delicious. I can easily get two meals out of one slice. I think I have enough to take me through the weekend.
The cats now spend every night with me. They wait until I am asleep and crawl in. They get as close to me as possible. When I get up to pee in the middle of the night, they are smack dab in the middle and don't even wake up. Last night I got back in and curled around them and tried to scooch them over. It's hard to fall back asleep when you are laughing.
I want to spend some time this morning with my finances. I have questions about how I spent money this past year and I want to make a solid plan for this year. I'm fortunate enough to have some cushion but I don't want to get sloppy so I need a solid plan. I need to have a good think about what I want to do and then put a plan in place to do it. I think today is a good day to do that.
The coffee that I'm testing this morning is a little too sharp. I added a teaspoon of hot cocoa mix to it and now it is delicious!
Time to get on that treadmill.
But, first from last night. Julio had to take a quick nap in the middle of playtime. He cracks me up.
