Snobs

I am NOT a coffee snob. I know many so I'm not ignorant of coffee snob ways. But I am not one. I like a nice, rich coffee flavor. I don't have a lot of patience with coffee preparation so I do understand that I will never ever reach coffee snob acceptance. But guess how many shits I give...

I've been drinking the same stuff for a long time and one day I just got over it. Tried drip. Back to Keurig. And testing coffees. Finally, I found a coffee brand that offers at least three different brews that I really like and sells a variety pack of k-cups - 10 each of their different brews. I'm happy.

The closest I ever came to coffee snobbery was when I lived in Minnesota. Those people drink coffee all day long. You are two steps into someone's home or office and they are offering you a cup from the pot they just brewed. 6 am or 6 pm doesn't matter. BUT, it was the weakest coffee on the planet. I swear they were all using one bean a year. It drove me nuts. I felt like I needed to take a gallon and distill it down to shot size to get a coffee taste.

Back to my new favorite coffee brand. Caribou. I just looked up to see who makes it. HAHAHAHAHAHAH of course. It's a coffee chain out of Edina, Minnesota! I'm having a nice laugh at myself while I enjoy my second cup of the morning.

It is 6:30. At 4 am this morning, Biggie, sleeping next to me yaked up a small hairball (probably Julio's hair). He did this once before about a year and a half ago so unlike all of his other stomach issues, this is not at all concerning. BUT then I was awake. Really awake so I got up. Now I've internetted and had breakfast and fed the cats. (Biggie ate totally normally so no worries there.)

It's kind of lovely to be so far ahead of the day.

I am ghoushly amused that the ex-pope is fighting Barbara Walters for obit space in the news hole. Kinda adversaries worthy of each other.

Today's treadmill will be a walk over to the International District. Specifically the Japanese grocer. They have a nice food court and I've got a hankerin'. But that's hours away. It does not pay to get there much before 10.

So I think I'll do a little crochet and a little early morning TV. They boys have their own agenda.

Yes, we are coffee fans. I like dark roast, strong, and black. I drank it with cream and sugar when I was young, but my Norwegian-American mother used to say, "You're Norwegian. When you're Norwegian, you end up drinking it strong and black." It's true.

I'm not Norwegian, but I drink my coffee strong and black (after using cream and sugar in my youth). Getting coffee strong enough for my taste in US restaurants can be a challenge (fortunately I rarely have coffee out, unless I'm traveling).

Yes! If the place doesn't have a dark roast, I ask for an Americano, which I'm sure you already know is 1/2 espresso and 1/2 hot water. Yum!

My mother used to make the most weak coffee and let it sit for hours. I never liked coffee until I tried a real cup in my late 20's!

Definitely in the "strong and black" camp. I mostly go for medium-dark to dark roasts these days. When I'm traveling I often have a cafe mocha, which is really hard to get wrong.

Bonnie left ME a hairball this morning. And I am not a coffee snob but there is a place up the street (Hope) that has the best coffee. I do enjoy going there. My brand of choice is the local grocery store brand. Happy New Year to you and Biggie and Julio.

My parents used to have a Keurig, I don't know if they still have because they got rid of a lot of their stuff when they sold their house and moved to their condo. I don't drink coffee but I've used it to make tea but not enough tea companies make Keurig pods. I'm one of those people who have about a zillion kinds of tea in their home.

Someone gave us a giant bag of Starbucks coffee for Christmas. I'm still suffering through it. I'm too frugal to just throw it out. Soon it will be gone though, and I can go back to my Sumatra Pete's coffee. It's not the fanciest coffee, but I love it in the morning.

I don't drink much coffee unless it's flavored. When I was a teen, I would consume a crapload of Irish cream. :-)
