I'm a Stinky Meany
Jul. 10th, 2006 05:20 pmJust before 5, I realized that the check I intended to mail today was still on the kitchen counter. If I hurried, I had enough time to get it into the envelope, stamped and run to the post office so I hustled. Then the phone rang.
"This is Susan."
"We're doing a survey. Did you graduate from Bethany College in 1971?"
"Yes, I did but I'm not interested and am very busy. Thanks for the call."
And I hung up.
As I was running out, the phone rang again and a message started...
It was two women I graduated with calling from Georgia where they said they were sitting on the porch (presumably with drink in hand) dialing down memory lane. They want me to call and fill them in on 'what in the world you have been doing for the last 30 years'. Oh.. nooo... thank you anyway.
I am flattered that I'm one of the people they want to find out about. And I think it's mean for me to ignore them. But I'd really rather do about anything else than pick up the phone and justify my life to two Southern drunks.
it would be meaner
Date: 2006-07-11 12:35 am (UTC)it'd be meaner to yourself to call back and put up with two big ol' drunks.
