This is [livejournal.com profile] nt's fault. He posted this link to calculate life expectancy and I had to click on it. I didn't know all the answers - I have no clue about my blood pressure and colesterol level so I just guessed but otherwise I answered as best I could, I learned that:

"Based on your answers to the above questions, your current life expectancy is 77 years."

This isn't very comforting to me. 77 seems a bit much. I'd be happier with 65 or 70 max. The report then goes on to say: "If you're not happy with the result, consider that by adopting a healthier lifestyle and avoiding various risk factors, you can increase your life expectancy by up to 15 years." It has no pointers for how you decrease... I could take up smoking again I guess. Wait, I just went in and added smoking a pack a day. That only bought me a year.

I'd recommend race car driving. You get exhilaration, groupies, a way higher chance of death, and no yellow teeth.

Think about George Burns...cigar smoking every day! He was 100 or so, right? Might as well live life...if living is what kills you then so be it. Better to die while living then to die while already dead!

I managed to get mine down to 54 by fibbing and telling it I weighed 400 pounds, smoked and drank constantly, never used a seat belt, etc.

So there's hope for you yet!

It gives me 88 years which is believable but probably a bit low. In the entire history of my family from the year 923 CE to the present, no man in my family has died of natural causes younger than age 87 and most of us make it past 90 despite having appalling habits like chain smoking, drinking vast quantities of alcohol and living on diets consisting primarily of lard and refined sugar.
