When I turned to August to record my new doctor's appointment I got slapped in the face with the reality that my next dental appointment is August 30. Crap. I remember when the appointment person first suggested the date, I wasn't thrilled because it would mean a whole month to dread it where as if it were on like the 5th, I might be able to pretend it wasn't all the way to the end of July. Now I know. So I have the doctor on the 3rd and the dentist on the 30th.

I just read that paragraph and need to note that I fully understand the ridiculousness of the whole thing. I am working hard to be grateful that there is no real tragedy in my life and that my worst fears are over stupid medical appointments.

I think I'll focus on the fact that we have a second cloudy day in a row. It's not particularly cool in here but it is also not even close to uncomfortable. I am grateful. Yesterday we even had a little rain. We don't see much rain in July or August. If any. So it was a pleasant surprise.

Work is good. I have enough to keep me busy but not too busy and no impossible deadlines looming.

I got a clipping from an old friend in the snail mail yesterday. It was a giant article and pictures in the Roanoke (VA) paper about his bird watching duties. He's retired and keeps track of a bunch of blue birds in the Blue Ridge Mountains. He included a note saying he was finally as famous as me - citing an article and picture I sent him about 15 years ago when my picture was in the paper with a story about web masters. He's old but he's got a good memory. I hadn't heard from him in a long time. I need to dig out his email address and send him a note. Or maybe I'll snail him back, he'd probably like that better.

At the beginning of June I had one website that needed a total makeover by June 30. I had another one that needed to be created from scratch by June 30 and a third - very large one - that needed a lot of work done by June 30. That last one got the launch date moved to July 11 (to coincide with a major announcement) and it went off on time. I got the final bits for the first one from the client yesterday. It will go live tomorrow. That middle one? I've got most of it but am still waiting for stuff from the client and another vendor. I'm kind of hoping I live long enough to see it go live. Best laid plans.

I got Season One of Entourage from Netflix. I watched 15 minutes of the first episode and I cannot for the life of me figure out why in the world I thought that might even be mildly interesting. No harm/no foul... They went right back... Season 1 of Weeds is on its way.

And that's all the bits and bytes I got for now. I think. I'm going to take a computer break and go hem some t-shirts. Yep, that's right. I got some great shirts from Walmart - they are the right weight and the right size and great colors and way too long.

I agree with you about Entourage. Tell me what you think of Weeds. I was thinking about renting that.

Even though I love email and LJ, I love getting hand written snail mail the best.
I'm old after all.
