There are four broadcasters who deliver Mariner games. One is radio only and one is most tv. The other two - Dave and Aaron swap back and forth. Dave is good. Not fabulous but solid and good. Aaron is like fingernails on chalkboard (to use a now ancient reference). He's so annoying that last year I finally bought a radio because I mute the TV when he's on and the radio stream was to slow so I bought an honest-to-god old time radio just to avoid him.

He just fills the airspace with crap. He never once stops talking. I don't mind an occasional reference to a broadcaster's family but I know more about his son than is natural. And I don't give a shit about him or his meal preferences or what he said yesterday or the day before or the day before that.

As [personal profile] meowmensteen once said at the end of listening to him call a game, I have a sore throat.

But Glory Hallelujah he's going to St. Louis!!! I'm so sorry for all those Missourians but I'm so thrilled for me. Of course he'll probably be replaced by some other bozo but at least it will not be him.

They can have him, as long as we can keep Dave.

oh I hate that. I'm amazed everybody doesn't just turn the sound off on sports TV shows. Nobody cares about the announcer's vacation or college frat.

there was a football announcer that was always commenting when we were watching the games and I would get legitimately angry at some of the little phrases he reused CONSTANTLY. I was THRILLED when he moved to a different role. So I'm very happy for you, I know how annoying it is!

The Red Sox' TV broadcast (NESN) has some big holes to fill on the analyst side since the 2021 death of Jerry Remy and the 2022 retirement of Dennis Eckersley. I am pleased that they haven't renewed one of this past season's interim guys, a former columnist for a local paper whose voice I found annoy9ing and whose insights didn't impress me a whole lot.

Most of the people they're going to be using this year (as has mostly been in the case anyway) are former Red Sox players, most of whom I like, although some more than others. Kevin Youkilis is solid and helpful; Kevin Millar is entertaining, but in small doses (which, thankfully, is what we'll be getting); I don't know what Lou Merloni will be like on TV, he's been pretty decent on radio.
