Issue: I am totally out of Cheetos.

Solutions:

Walk to Uwajimaya.

Pros: Steps.
I can pick up very yummy lunch and dinner.
Cons: I'm not entirely sure they carry Cheetos.
It's really cold out.

Drive to Fancy Grocery.

Pros: I can pick up meals for the week.
They for sure have Cheetos.
Way warmer.

Cons: No steps.

Actually, Fancy Grocery is winning. I have a Jeopardy in the bank so treadmill is doable. I think I'll go and not try to shop for the entire week - just get for today and tomorrow and then do Uwaj later in the week.

I really want Cheetos.

Since I started shopping for meals - as opposed to groceries - my food bill has nearly doubled. But, honestly, so has my food pleasure.

My goal is to live within my income - mostly. My social security is $4k and IBM retirement is $1K a month. (I often marvel at how much I get paid to do nothing. Thankfully, 'nothing' is in my skill set.) My monthly bills are few - some TV subscriptions (some, though, are annual), internet, and electricity. HOA dues, taxes, some TV and other subscriptions, insurance, etc are paid annually from savings. Even with the doubled grocery bill, I'm still within the monthly income. I also have a nice cushion to fall back on for big ticket items and small splurges. If I look at how many years I have left, I'm comfy that I won't be out on the streets with bags and a cart. Even with the higher grocery bills.

I watched an episode of the new Poker Face (Peacock) last night and enjoyed it a lot. I also started a new book - Jane Smiley's A Dangerous Business. It's a departure from my usual but I do love her writing and so far it has me.

The cats are getting ready to claw at the blinds which means I need to raise them which means I need to get up or the sun will blind me. So... must be time to start my day.

Treadmill. Chores. Market.

I really like Poker Face. It has elements of the crime dramas of the 70s, including humor, which I enjoy.
