Action Monday
Mar. 6th, 2023 12:33 pmI was killing time here this morning waiting to go take my phone, when I got an email saying my expensive glasses were finally ready. So I hopped into the car and went to get them. Since I've been wearing the Zenni version for two weeks, I had no transition issues. I put them on and VOILA!!! Everything was instantly 100%!! The Zenni's work fine but these are perfection. I mean perfection. As if the original $800 was not enough, they wanted an extra $40 this morning. I bitched but not much. I did request they email me a detailed version of the charges. But, seriously, I can see the details on the TV and the details on this monitor... AT THE SAME TIME!
And the sunglass magic - transition - is really amazing. It's a little weird when you first get out of the sun but it's still great. No more sunglasses.
I do wish I'd spent a little more, now, on some really fab frames. At the time, I didn't think they would even work so I got the cheaps. The key though is that I have a pair that are just perfect for seeing stuff. So yeah!
And the lab sent me my test results. The glucose and the A1C are both lower than they have been in several years. So halilooyah. No diabetes talk.
But my cholesterol is way up. So I'll still get the brown food/fiber lecture. Hopefully he'll have some magic drug that will fix cause between you and me and the pixels, the diet is just not going to change. Beans and I are not comparable.
The rest of the nums were all fine. So whew.
Meanwhile I took the phone to the fix it place. The young lady there was having a very bad Monday and clearly hated her job and was not wild about boomers in general. After a bit of back and forth, she said she would replace the screen and it would take 4 hours. So I left it. I probably won't get back to get it until tomorrow. If she calls to say it's ready after 3, it won't be worth the traffic hassles. I'm not at all convinced that this will fix the problem. I just hope there is only one more trip to that shop. I do have a very viable backup so it's not nearly as tragic as it could be.
Man, these glasses are amazing!!

Date: 2023-03-08 07:39 pm (UTC)I never seem to have good luck when I get glasses because they make the bifocal area too low despite my telling them not to. Previously I begged my eye dr to make some sort of notation on the script but he told me to simply tell them to add 2 mm to whatever figure they came up with. I told him, that may work for you because you're an eye dr but they think I have no clue what I'm talking about. Last time the mgr FINALLY listened to me & looked further into the issue. When they're making the markings on the lenses, they aren't at eye level with me & are standing over me, so I'm looking up. I guess no one has cared up to this point. But now I have to attempt to explain it all over again to whomever I get when it comes time to get new glasses [which will be soon].
I had transitions ages ago but I didn't love them. They took too long to change outside & weren't dark enough to make a difference then took too long to change back to normal when I went indoors. Also, I'm told they don't work in the car either. But lots of people are happy with them. The doubts have kept me from revisiting them because then I'm stuck with them for a couple years at least until I need new ones again.
