I learned coding for the web pages back in the dark ages of the web - before Chrome. Before Internet Explorer. It was sooooooo simple. There was one font, six sizes. And very few formatting options. I did it for about 10 years before I retired 10 years ago. Ten years ago, it was still, relatively speaking, pretty darned simple.
Today, I can see the code and almost understand what is happening but am mostly pretty much left with buggy skills in a NASCAR world.
That's why it took me a couple of hours this morning to find some code I wanted for a web page. These days I build web pages for me. Data I want to collect. Shit I want to cast onto my TV or onto the laptop screen across the room or phone. I'm not going for style but function which is the hard part. But, I managed to accomplish what I wanted so not two hours lost. It just should have taken me 10 minutes. Old people web skills.
It's fine. I sure have the time!
We (Mariners) used to have this great pitcher. He was the guy you called in when you were winning and had only 3 or 6 outs you needed to polish off the victory - The Closer. He had fabulous swagger and when he came on, they played this great salsa music. It was always kind of a thriller moment. Well, we traded him. We got good in return and he got a killer contract with the Mets where he did great. But, we all miss him. Last night, he was playing for Puerto Rico on a team with is brother - the first time they had ever gotten to play together. He closed out an amazing win eliminating Columbia (World Baseball Classic Tournament). And, then, as he and his teammates celebrated on the mound, he injured his knee so badly, he had to be carried off the field. Honestly, for the first time, I was really really fine with the trade. Poor Edwin.
Baseball highs and lows.
Now it is 10 am. I'm still in my robe. I'm just putting off the treadmill at this point. Sigh. Ok. doing it now.
