I lived in a lot of places before I landed in Seattle. But, once I landed here - 1991 - I fell in love with it like I had never fallen in love with any other place. And I'm still in love. I do love the weather. For sure. But, mostly I love the culture and mores.

There is this Methodist church in West Seattle. It's just a regular church in the middle of a regular neighborhood. I found it originally because it was not far from the pool and there was a big sign that said 'garage sale'. It was a fabulous garage sale. Before the pandemic they held garage sales and rummage sales and bake sales regularly and I never missed a one. They were the nicest people and they had great shit.

I honestly had not thought of them much in the past three years until today. Today I learned that they are hosting a drag queen tea party!!!!!

Drag Tea - featuring Ms Penny Cost!

Saturday, April 1st
Yes Tea, Yes Shade, Yes Pink Lemonade!

1:00-3:00pm in Adams Hall at Tibbetts UMC

Come delight in an afternoon of tea, snacks, community, and FUN with drag queen Ms. Penny Cost! All ages welcome!

100% of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Beloved Arise, a nonprofit organization dedicated to LGBTQIA+ youth of faith. Beloved Arise seeks to build relationships, offer support, and inspire youth to embrace life to the fullest.

Attire: You do you! Wear what makes you feel most yourself!
Dress casual or dress up, just be YOU!

I love living in a town where a regular random neighborhood Methodist Church holds a tea party with a drag queen and invites anyone and everyone. (I'm not going BUT I sure did make a donation.)

That's just marvelous. So good to hear that they embrace everyone. So much hate in the world theses days. Gives me hope to see this.

This is one of the sweetest things I've read this week.

Way to go Methodists.

Yeah, definitely NOT Tennessee! Washington (at least the coastal areas) are way cooler.

If I could afford Seattle, I think I'd fall in love with the city too.
